We lost another great My friends. RIP GOAT www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/38577860/dick-butkus-hall-fame-linebacker-chicago-bears-dies Butkus finishing his career with 1,020 tackles and 22 interceptions. He was named All-Pro first team five times in his career, won the George Halas Award in 1974 and was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility in 1979.
He also was named to the NFL's all-decade teams in the 1960s and 1970s and is a member of the league's 75th and 100th anniversary all-time teams.
Ironically the Bears play tonight. I hope the honor him with success.

Was one of the best that ever played. He was so banged up and still lasted to 80. Gives me hope.

He played during the black and blue days of the league. Born and bred in the Windy City where he instilled fear in tough men. Players trembled in horror knowing that you may not wake up after getting hit by him. With two bad knees and blood from god only knows who on his jersey. He played the game the way it was meant to be played. Balls to the wall..
A player that was universally feared by all.. The name screams football player. College football gave him the utmost respect when they named an award after him for the best linebacker in the country. It has been a half a century since he roamed the middle where only a few players dared to run across. His impact on the game was felt across the globe. Kids wanted to be him.. men wanted to meet him. Butkus was a bear in every sense of the word..
