I'm sure all 17 people who care about that league are excited. 17,143 were in attendance for the final game of WNBA championship. Giants 3rd pre-season game of 2023 had 72,951 in attendance.

Good for them and I would've thought she would be taller.

Good for them and I would've thought she would be taller. She's 5'8"....pretty tall to me anyway. Not as tall as my sister though. She's a guard though, not a forward. 19.2 PPG in the finals series. Not bad.

Yup, MSG sold out for it. Furthermore, the games in Las Vegas constantly have packed houses. I don't know why some dudes go out of their way to crack on women sports. He honestly could have left that corny comment to himself. I hope that he doesn't have any daughters. I have 4 of them, so I know the deal.

It has to do with it being a spectator sport with insufficient interest in being a spectator. The league has been around long enough to develop a following that just hasn't developed. It still operates on money provided from the NBA and cannot turn a profit on its own. Most alternate leagues with the WNBA's financial performance would have folded a long time ago and yet it persists. It has nothing to do with daughters, unless you want an example to show them to learn why you shouldn't keep throwing more money at bad investments. The sport is what it is, I'm not a fan of basketball and don't really see any reason to enjoy watching it no matter the sex of the participants. But objectively speaking the WNBA is a bad investment and a failed league that is only surviving due to the support of a successful league. I'm happy for the participants finding success playing the game though.

I just didn't see the point of throwing shade at it. I thought it was unnecessary. Of course me having daughters made me a ultra-sensitive about it. Maybe I just misread it.....

The only reason my daughter is active is because of the WNBA and womens tennis. I hope these sports keep gaining momentum. It nice to see the confidence building up in my daughter through these sports.

OK, unnecessary dig at it. I agree. But it was kinda funny as unnecessary digs can be. I made one recently at Lemieux, we all do from time to time. Not worth getting sensitive over. I have a daughter now also, I don't really see a connection between her and the WNBA any more than I see a connection between my nephew and the NFL.

I can say with confidence that you have had a far greater impact on your daughter and her willingness to be active than any professional sports league or athlete will have. I say this as a woman whose father has a profound impact on my life even today long after his death. For any father out there, no single person or group of people has a greater impact on the life of your daughter than you.

Not every dad is a professional sports champion.

Not every dad is a professional sports champion. Didn't say otherwise. Just saying, he shouldn't give credit to others when he owns the significant portion of the credit. Dad's are very important and it should be recognized and not dismissed as it too often tends to be.

We musn't underestimate the importance of having a person who is of the same gender/race/etc. as you in a position to which you aspire.
