Now get Moto and a 1 year FA.
We need more pitching and have pretty much zero depth.

wow, I'm excited to see what they can do. We'll miss King, but Soto is a great player, and fits the Yankees needs to a T!!

A little analysis on RHB vs LHB at Yankee Stadium since we are bringing in Lefties now (Soto and Verdugo), plus Dominguez is a switch hitter. Rizzo at 1st B too. Austin Wells is a lefty and trading Higs opens up a lot of playing time for him. Statcast park factor is metric measures as the observed effect of each stadium on offensive outcomes when compared to all other stadiums. 100 is average, while 110 means the stadium observes 10% more instances of that outcome than average. I think most of us know that Yankee Stadium has a short porch in left, helping those lazy pop flies carry over the fence for a HR. Over the last 3 seasons, Yankee stadium has a park factor of 123 on Home-Runs for left-handed hitters, meaning that lefties hit about 23% more home-runs here than the average park. 2nd highest in baseball behind Great American Park which has a staggering 139. However as mentioned earlier, due to the small dimensions, it's much easier to defend right field, especially with the analytic advancements made on defensive positioning. Because of this, Yankee stadium becomes a brutal park to hit in if you can't regularly get it over the fence. Yankee stadium has a park factor of 83 on singles for lefties, worst in baseball (Brewers American Family Field is the 2nd worst at 89), and 85 on doubles, 4th worst, and 45 in triples, tied for the worst in MLB. Ironically, with Yankee Stadium being tied for the 26th ranked park for lefties and friendliness, Petco Park is 29th, where Soto was just playing. Im a little shocked by seeing this, but the data makes sense when thinking through it. So, we may not see an increased BA with the addition of lefties in the lineup but should increase the HR totals. Of course, a lot of this also has to do with the quality of the hitter brought in. For comparison, below is the same data from the right side: Also, note Fenway Park. They are about average indexed in HRs, but look at the rest of the metrics where Yankee Stadium struggles with. Some of the best in singles, doubles and triples. This is due to their wide open OF and odd shaped field. Also peppering the Monster.

Estimated Juan Soto contract expectations:
Market Value 12 yrs, $408,259,716 Avg. Salary: $34,021,643
Puts him behind Judge, but ahead of everyone else not named Francisco Lindor by a hair.
My guess is $35M per year minimal. Not sure he would get Judge numbers, but we will see after this year. He certainly will get 12 years though being only 25 next season. And probably an opt out after 3 years.
He probably will be closely compared to Devers in Boston. He got a 10 year $314M contract at age 26.

Sounds like the BJs are going to land Ohtani... They must have been freaking out over the Soto trade and upped their anti.
It will be great to watch him play more, not at 10pm at night on the west coast and to a team that has a playoff shot....
Sucks it would be in our division though.
Im not sure he is a pitcher much longer anyway though. Just be a DH.

Jon Soto Hahn Solo Whatever Just win it for the Evil Empire Lol. Just thought it was funny that twitter.com/yankees don't know the actual name of the superstar they just signed. Sounds more like a Mets tweet. Congrats on the signing. Finally judge has some protection in the lineup.

I wonder how bad Mike Trout wants out of Anaheim now. He has enough money to never make a decision off of money again. He has the track record of being one of the greatest baseball players of all time. He is getting older now and Anaheim is going to suck now and for the foreseeable future now that they lost Ohtani and didnt even get trade pieces for him to build the future. Ouch Here are the top 10 MLB contracts now. Judge and Betts look like bargains! 2of the top 3 are Dodgers.

All the talk about Ohtani and Yamamoto, another Japanese name worth looking into is Rōki Sasaki. He is bigger at 6'4" and 205 pounds than Yamamoto and much younger. Nasty stuff apparently too. Roki Sasaki, 22-year-old Japanese ace, requests to be posted to MLB as amateur free agent, per reportRoki Sasaki, the 22-year-old wunderkind who captured global attention with a 19-strikeout perfect game in April 2022, has requested to be posted for MLB consideration, according to a Yahoo Japan report. Yahoo adds that the posting deadline falls on Dec. 15 and that there's a "high possibility" Sasaki's team, the Chiba Lotte Marines, will not accept his request.

And yes that looming DJ extension should blow it out of the water. $100M per TD pass sounds reasonable. He just needs a few more weapons.

Smart... The Yankees will get two prospects that the Dodgers have to move and get rid of, and the Dodgers get a "non-40 man roster" prospect in return.

They need him or the other Japanese pitcher I posted about earlier. Definitely lacking in the pitching department. I still don't understand the trade with the Dodgers.
