"Blake Snell has an offer on the table from the Yankees, per source, though the Angels and Giants remain possibilities for the reigning NL Cy Young winner."
They are still trying apparently. I think in order to be a serious threat they need to land him and have him at the very least be as good as he was as a Ray all those years.
They still need at least one top-middle starter. And hope Rodon can bounce back.

Yankees aren’t budging on Blake Snell, so get over it | Klapisch
For the fourth time this week I called my MLB insider who’s plugged into the Yankees. I’ve been asking the same question.
“Anything new with Snell?” I asked.
“Didn’t we just have this conversation?” he said. “Nothing’s going on.”
“But I keep hearing …”
“You keep calling …” he interrupted. “And I keep telling you the same thing: Snell’s not happening.”
I thanked my man for his time, although I’m sure he expects to hear from me again. He’s probably right.

He’s probably right. and they shouldn't. No one else is running out and offering him anything matching and certainly not better than what the Yankees offered him. It may not be as much as he wants, but its still a huge generationally funding amount. We'll see where he ends up, and how much he actually makes. I think he's making the same mistake Barkley did last season, way overvaluing himself.

Jasson Dominguez and Spencer Jones and hopefully Juan Soto...
The future.
With Judge being the old man.
That's a legit outfield

pretty good game today. Rodon looked much better then last year. If he stays healthy, we could very well get the pitcher we envisioned when we signed him. That will go a long way for the starting rotation. Soto and Judge were excellent, and some of our top prospects also did very well. Spencer is playing lights out so far. I know it's only the 2nd pre-season game, and you can only glean so much from it, but it sure beats coming out and sucking horribly.

I don't think he will be a Shane Spencer or Greg Bird. I think he is much more disciplined and has a huge ceiling. Not just a Yankee fan wishing either, a baseball fan who has watched him the past couple of years. Amazing athleticism for his huge frame. Great lefty swing. IF he reaches potential he is a better Aaron Judge. No joke. Has to stay healthy though. I expect to see him by the end of the year on the top level. Super excited about him. As far as Rodon, I need to see it to believe it. They 100% need him to be a legit #2 at minimal to be a threat this season. I'm still hoping for Snell or Monty back.

Like Rodon yesterday, Cortez was ok today in his first outing, not great, but not a bad start to spring training given his injury plagued season last year. I'm getting really excited to see Soto/Judge once the games count though...

He should be a top 10 prospect in MLB. Thats how much I like this kids game. I see a September call up, unless injuries force him up earlier. And 2025 his rookie year replacing Soto if they dont lock Soto up. Or replacing Verdouchgo.

"The Yankees may not be ready to announce a diagnosis on Gerrit Cole until mid-week, but there “isn’t extreme concern about the situation,” per
@martinonyc
:
“Word around the team is that Cole’s exam is ‘precautionary.’ While acknowledging than an MRI can result in any number of diagnoses, including worst-case scenarios, the Yankees don’t seem overly worried about losing Cole for a long period of time.”"

I give up. Every year. Yankees, Giants, and now Knicks.... Injuries injuries and injuries... Season ruiners.
Might as well get the TJ surgery now. He isnt coming back and being effective.

Cole will come back in 2 months and we'll be lucky if he pitches 2 games before he starts feeling it again.

They better not trade for another SP now out of desperation. Only options are to get Snell. Also, lock up Soto long term of they just threw away a bunch of prospects for a "fun" season.

I'm also with you both. I don't see Cole being effective this year for an extended period of time. I really felt like we could be in contention for a 2nd place finish in the ALE (I feel like Baltimore with the addition of Burnes will win this division convincingly). Neither Cease or Snell will be able to replace this top of the line ace that we have in Cole.
