I can’t put my finger on it. Maybe I’m projecting idk. But he comes off as a complete phony. He gives off Derek Jeter vibes. I’ve always felt both of them are really off in some way. Anyone else feel the same?

You need to tell us what happened now. Tiki has so many critics on this board which I am one of them. But he was our greatest RB ever. So he does get permission to talk about his Giants.
But after he retired (quit) 90% of the leaks in the locker room stopped.
The ultimate happiness of the Tiki situation for me would be Eli getting into the HOF and Tiki not winning a SB and not getting into the HOF. So far now we just need Eli to get that gold jacket.
F**K TIKI !

Before he was an ankle collector.. he was a demon on special teams. He earned his bones and bided his time till the Giants exhausted every option to replace their bell cow, Rodney Hampton. Once he got his chance he never looked back. Speaking of him missing out on winning a chip. Everyone and their mothers seem to think it was addition by subtraction of why we won the very next year. Check this out.. If not for his heroic game to beat Washington in ‘06, and punching our ticket to the postseason. Tom Coughlin would have went back to Boston College in a body bag.. And ownership would have thrown a Molotov cocktail at the roster. As the coaching staff runs like rats. Time heals all wounds.. as he has earned the right to be revered.. not despised.

I agree Tiki's last 4-5 years under TC were great. Carry that ball high and tight, I remember. And was a good player before that. I did love to watch him during those 2000 yd seasons. I think he had 3 of them. I applauded him as loud a anyone. He was a top 3 RB in the league. Definitely a top 5. And like you said I am one of those fans that thought it was addition by subtraction after he was gone. Our run game was still a powerhouse with Jacobs, Bradshaw, and that 1 year or so with Ward. Time does not always heel all wounds.

I feel the exact opposite.
Tiki is straight up an honest and that's why people don't like him. I think as he's gotten older he's just become more politically correct - he's got a New York radio show now and puts in more effort to be likeable than he used to.
Not a big baseball or Jeter fan.

Great football player.
Horrible radio personality.

I don't know what the impression of Jeter was in New York but outside he was well-liked, even among those that hated the New York Yankees. He was always seen as the clean-cut, well-mannered guy who wouldn't blow his top. Tiki Barber was along the same lines until he wrankled a few feathers when the Coughlin situation happened and he and Strahan were having their feud ( static.espn.go.com/nfl/news/2002/0321/1355387.html ). I still wonder what could have been if he had stayed or if his retirement may have been a stabilizing force in the locker room. I don't agree that he tells it like it is and he comes off as a shill. Unfortunately, my view on Carl Banks has soured as well. Both were good football players, but as radio personalities suck and I feel they are biased.

Tiki is a typical brown noser. He has his head so far up Maras and Giants organization ass I don't know how he breaths.
He will never say anything to contradict Giants official narrative. I heard him say the other day "we still don't know what DJ is".. what a joke! Urlacher said it best about Fields, "I think at this point if people are still asking if Justin is the guy, he's probably not the guy," and that's after 3 years, meanwhile we are going into year 6 of Danny Duds era!!!!

Time does not always heel all wounds. I loved watching him run, once he cured the fumbling he was great. Ran even bigger than his stature. However the "addition by subtraction" is undeniable. I felt that way about Shockey while that SB run came together. It was the 11th or 12th week of the season and Eli threw 5 picks(2 pick 6s) VS the Vikings. Its uncanny that he got it together late in the season but the two most outspoken Giants were then gone. Remember Tiki mocking Eli as a leader? He did it carefully but joked that he was meek in the huddle and kept using his birth name of "Elisha".

F**K TIKI ! ..........you can add to the happiness of the Tiki situation that Strahan landed the type of plumb TV gig(s) that Tiki angled for his entire career as a player. .....and I am a well documented Tiki critic, for matters unrelated to his field performance. That said, when in NJ, I find myself listening in on his radio show and he doesn't bother me.

Antics would not necessarily be used to describe where he worked hard to correct his number of fumbles that did demonstrate his committment that made him an excellent RB for this Giant where he was fun to watch! It is the antics from locker room to commentary that have that Tiki flare not a bad thing just what it is.

He was very effective once he cut down the fumbling issues.

To me, I liked Hampton. His last 3 seasons, were three of the greatest seasons in a row put together by any RB in NFL history. Maybe the greatest. 5000 yards rushing. 1600 yards receiving..... and 31 total TD's.

Pretty nice right there. But it’s the same as me with Simms and Eli. Eli’s got the stats but I’ll still prefer the way Simms played.
