NFL season opener and playoff game won't be shown live on national TVlink The NFL's season-opening game featuring the Philadelphia Eagles will not be shown live on national television for the first time with Peacock exclusively streaming the game from their platforms.
The season opener on September 6 will feature the Eagles with their opponents not yet announced, in the first-ever game to be played in Brazil. It has been one of the many shock announcements made by the NFL this week, including the hip-drop tackle changes and the kick-off rule amendments with the game to look different in the 2024 season.
As well as the season-opening game not being shown live on traditional TV platforms, a playoff game will also be streamed by Amazon Prime Video. A Wildcard round game, controversially given to Peacock last year, will now be shown by Amazon Prime Video.

I have a better chance of being struck by lightning for a 2nd time, then playing a bloody red cent for peackock to watch these games (and I haven't been struck the first time yet, btw...)

I sure hope it is not the Giants playing them in the season opener if its your local team, it will also be broadcast on normal tv, at least that's how it used to work with NFL channel games...Not 100% sure though in these money grubbing days...

I sure hope it is not the Giants playing them in the season opener It is on the Friday of the first week of the season. Is this a test to see if Friday night NFL games are a marketable option. IMO: I do not see how it will draw viewership away from HS football.

It’s as if they just want us to continue to bolster the illegal streaming culture.
I’m cool with that.

Meh
That's why they have stream sites.
I cut cable anyway. It's expensive poison.

The league got in bed with streaming and instead of a one night stand.. It decided to move in. Get used to it.. all sports are holding these sites for ransom and selling to the highest bidder. Football is also getting with the times with crossing the pond and pushing their sport worldwide.
Basketball had that on lock for decades as baseball is right behind them. Soccer who controls the globe moves for no one.. As football which has a monopoly in the States. Wants to get a bigger slice of the pie.
