Started combing through some WRs and stumbled across this skyscraper. He’s no Zay Flowers in terms of route running, but he moves pretty damn well for someone roughly 6’7/235lbs. Between his frame, his athleticism, and his wingspan he has the potential to be a matchup nightmare. Anyone interested in a Plax v2.0? www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Johnny-Wilson-WR-ArizonaState

Don't know much about this guy but I see he is ranked around the #20 WR of the class.
Another Plaxico type receiver would be nice but Ramses Barden has similar measureables too.
Plaxico was a blue chip guy coming out of college...drafted in the top 10...doesn't seem like this guy has that but maybe he could be a good later round pickup. Can't teach size.

Mostly because of how deep this position is. Based on his metrics, he's literally the 83rd most athletic WR drafted since 1987. Can't teach 6'6 231: With that said. Plax was much more polished coming out, but both have similar fluidity. This kid needs work as a raw WR.

Maybe he can gain some weight and play TE, since Waller is on the fence

Holy shit. He also has over 35" arms. That's like Andrew Thomas. 100th percentile wingspan haha

More like Ramses Barden 2.0 Haha Cal Polys finest. The original plax "replacement" At least this kid played with decent competition.

I still remember that one game where he stepped up and caught like 10 passes for 150 yards. This was against Carolina and Nicks was injured. I don't remeber if Cruz played that game.

I believe that's the same game my guy Andre Brown (RB - NC State) had himself a day. If so, I was actually at the game.
Two NY Giants legends right there.

Just looked it up. He had a 10 carries 112 yards and 2 TDs. Martellus Bennett had a good game too. www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/201209200car.htm

I would take a shot anywhere from the 3rd rd down if they like the guy enough. Lets face it they're terrific targets.

This is that guy you're referring to. I believe he started his career at Arizona St., but he played at FSU last season.
I watched another highlight reel this morning and at second glance he seems to move more like a smaller TE than he does a bigger WR.....if that makes sense. He isn't necessarily slow, but his stop and go isn't too impressive.
Interesting prospect, but he doesn't feel like a fit for what we're looking for.

not sure what happened at ASU but they should've been better with Ricky Pearsall and Johnny Wilson at Receiver at Jayden Daniels at QB
anyway yeah Johnny size is intriguing for sure, hopefully he can be more Mike Evans and less like another FSU Guy Kelvin Benjamin who had a horrible work ethic and attitude "Allegedly" but Johnny looks much more Athletic than Benjamin was

Has great physical attributes
Struggles with separation, route running, and his hands are suspect
Sure, I'd give him a shot in the 3rd or 4th

More like Ramses Barden 2.0 Noles fan here so biased. That said, I felt like he was more important to the team than Coleman was.

Beware the "match up nightmare". That was a Jerry Reese favorite expression.
Travis Beckum, Ramses Barden and the rest. If all we can say about a guy is a lame label, I am going to pass.

I'm always amazed that this sport has never found a way to make guys like this successful. There is no shortage of 6'7" guys that couldn't make the NBA, why have none of them been successful WRs?
The Plax replacement is Odunze though, let's take him at 6 and we can add this guy later on in the draft.

Thank You Piddy for clearing it up. I had seen highlights on him before. I just hadn't realized it was the same player. Oh yes I agree he's not the target WR we have in the 1st rd of this draft if were going WR. He would be depth, would be a great target inside the red zone.

The only guy that comes to mind years ago and I mean decades the Eagles had a 6'7" WR named Harold Carmichael that was a good player. But he wsn't a great player. Odunze looks like a beast. He would look good in Blue. Your right Mike why don't these 6' 7" guys work out as a rule ?

My only guess is that it comes down to movement. It's why a 5'10" Edelman can have a great career even though he's 9" shorter. The speed/movement is a bigger advantage than the height. Why no one can figure out how to use these beanstalks successfully is a mystery though.

not needed.
Most "tall" receivers taken by teams to be a red zone threat often get very little play time to make their perceived advantage worthless. Maybe very late round take. Would not waste even a 3rd

he is an early day 3 pick. Not sure he is any different than Slayton. A slower version I might add. He runs a 4-5 to 4.8. With pads in a 5+. He is not getting separation or route development being that slow. He is clumsy between the hash marks. He is a one trick pney. Outside go route (slow I might add).
