We lost another NFL great today. Rest in peace Roman. Crushed us week 14 1970. We had a chance to go to the playoffs and Gabriel and the Rams took us to the woodshed in the last game of the year. I always considered him a Giants killer in LA.

The Roman candle who lit up the night sky with his fireworks of an arm.. Was a trailblazer being the first Filipino American quarterback. A giant for his era he stood above his peers as he was the size of defensive lineman. Playing in the brawling sixties he was an iron man for his time not missing a game from ‘66 to ‘73. Played in the era of the quarterback when the league was top heavy at the position.
As the Johnny Unitas and Joe Namath of the sport got all the attention. Gabriel put together a stellar career caping it off with a league MVP. It’s been 52 years to the day that he last wore a Ram uniform. And he still holds most of the records at the position. He may not have a gold jacket in his closet.. Or have a home in Canton, Ohio. His name still echoes in the great halls of all the players who played the position.

He was truly one of the Greats I remember him and Jack Snow having a field day against the Giants as a kid.
