Good interview, first time I've actually heard him sound humble.
Had some good stories too.

The best back by a country mile in franchise history.. Went from amaze.. to haze.. now back to praise. While he carried defenders for all those years. He could not outrun or run over his biggest obstacle. The base.. Instead of letting him slide.. they went for his knees as others took their shots.
The player who saved Tom Coughlins career was now running for his life. The knuckle draggers are now finally standing up for him after years of sitting on their arms.. The pain they must have endured in part to not knowing their ass from their elbow.

Hahah
Good ol’Tiki.
Fumble, fumble, fumble, etc until Coughlin came in an adjusted his arm. Oh the passion, throwing Coughlin and everybody under the bus after the loss to Carolina.
A few dinners later the inflated ego believes he’s more than a football player, he’s super important. Goes on to blame a reporter for breaking his retirement news. Never mind the retirement tour as he’s entitled to being a distraction which was a far cry from his torching of the coach, etc post Carolina playoff game.
Good news, his wife gave birth yet he wasn’t present due to having an affair, rubbed everybody the wrong way at NBC as his sense of entitlement faced backlash and comically tried to scold Mike Francesca on air about how to do his job haha.
As early last year Tiki was quoted to have never spoken to Tom Coughlin since he left.
Just a football player

I wasn't a fan of that podcast at first, but they grew on me. Bobby and Justin do a great job. I think Skinner is one of the better team analysts out there.

I remember on the old message board copying and pasting his interviews and how many times he would use the words "I and/or me". This was only after the shit he said about Eli and Strah, Then he said TC took the fun out of the game for him etc etc. Was a tremendous player though. Then he goes on to say he doesn't need the NFL or sports since will be a "real reporter" etc. Anyway....fast forward to recent times and from my perspective his attitude has changed quite a bit. I think he is more humble etc. He admits his faults and life issues and so forth. Thats just my view on him now. Its all personal I guess how one sees these guys.

I don’t trust he would pull a 180 at any moment.

As always, it's complicated. I was a critic of Tiki's self promoting act long before his career was coming to an end. If it was in the twilight of his career, the "life after football" stories wouldn't have bothered me. I thought he chose himself over his team in how/where he spent his time. It was a non-stop series of puff pieces about him, obviously driven by his PR consultants but they had nothing to do with football or the team. That has sort of faded for me. I never questioned him on game days. He always showed up. I "liked" Rodney Hampton more but Tiki is undoubtedly one of the two or three greatest RBs we've ever had.

He prolonged it. We’re talking about a guy who had 3x 1k yard seasons under his belt. And that’s after years of sharing the rock with a crowded stable. I don’t give two shits about what was said outside the lines. That’s for the washwomen.. Where it matters most.. he left it all on the very ground that he tore up.

Great player.
Made some huge mistakes on his way out. It’s good to see he has learned from that and this interview was a nice example of that.
I don’t understand fans that carry these personal grudges against players so many years later.
People make mistakes. The difference is that these guys are under a microscope in their 20s and 30s. I can’t imagine how hard that must be.

The fumble thing helped but let’s be serious. Tiki put in a ton a work to reinvent himself in the TC years. Coughlin deserves some credit for motivating that I am sure but it was mostly the player putting in the work. Plus he was already a good, talented player. Tiki gained a significant amount of muscle in those peak years intentionally and made himself a lot stronger working with Joe Carini (his own idea), really changed up his style. That was Tiki’s initiative and it’s disingenuous to boil everything down to the fumble issue. He was a good player and he made himself a great player
