Meet Heisman Trophy finalist Dwayne Haskins, the man who could be the Giants' next QB... and he grew up in Jersey. The sport already has made Haskins famous. And one day, likely sooner than Ohio State fans would like, it will make him very rich.Haskins enjoyed a historic 2018 season, breaking Big Ten records for passing yards (4,580) and touchdown passes (47). He threw for a program-record 499 yards against Northwestern in the conference championship game, earning MVP honors. Michigan allowed seven touchdown passes in its first 11 games — and six to Haskins in the Buckeyes’ 62-39 romp.

I can rock with it. He throws a nice ball. He does have some mobility, but is far from a Wilson/Jackson type of running threat. Should be able to extend plays. One thing about him I'm interested to see is what kind of shape he can get in. Now he isn't necessarily in bad shape, but it looks like he is not even close to the shape he could be. That would only improve his mobility in and out of the pocket. I don't see any of these guys truly separating themselves definitively. It will come down to pre-draft work and preferences by scouts. Hopefully we make the right choice with whoever we choose

I said it in an earlier thread, I think he is solid.
Reminds me of a mix between Carr and Winston.
I'd still prefer 2020 draft but if the FO and DG see him or any of the QBs and say "Yes he's the one" than I'll roll with that. I'm just hoping like hell it isn't a panic reach "Jerry Reese special".

But it would be asinine to pass on a QB who you have graded as franchise QB quality, because you think a prospect coming out the next year might be better.

I still think we need to draft the best RT in college ball with our #1 pick then best DE with the #2 pick or vice versa. Giants have to fix the trenches next yr. Pick #3 should be best center available then pick #4 should be next best DE/LB/SS available. Either we go with Eli 1 more yr or hand the keys over to Lauletta & see what he can do behind an improved OL & our offensive weapons., If he isn't the answer in 19', then we go all out for a QB in the 20' draft.

I think any/all of Herbert, Haskins, Lock, Grier, Jones, etc could be good players, but at the same time any/all could bust or be underwhelming. A lot of them have the tools to be good, but have flaws obviously. I think it is all about who the Giants think fits the system they want to run the best out of those guys. From what I was expecting the Shurmur offense to be (ideally) I would think that Herbert fits what he wants the most. Strong enough arm to make all the throws, mobile, big kid, can play uptempo, etc. I think it really is anyone's ballgame to be the top QB out of that group. I think someone will impress more than the others and solidify themselves as QB1. Haskins could make an early case for that with a good playoff run

But it would be asinine to pass on a QB who you have graded as franchise QB quality, because you think a prospect coming out the next year might be better. And its equally assenine to reach for a qb that has a ton of flaws(and every one in this class potentially fatal flaws )and hope that they can be fixed up to be possibly a franchise qb while passing on another dire need like pass rushers(which there will be a few game changers where we will pick). This would lead to the possible nightmare scenario of having a Bortles/Winston type qb here while we cant hold a lead at the end of games, while players like Allen and Ferel are averaging 13 sacks a year with teams that were after us in the draft, then pass on QBs in 2020 that turn out to be legit. When the sensible thing would be to let Lauletta havs all of 2019 to play while fixing the other dire holes we have with players that would be BPA at said positions of dire need.

Haskins is also a huge Giants fan apparently, so bonus points for him in my book lol

Im liking what Im seeing so far. He is close friends with Tua and I see similarities in skill level when it comes their reads. From what I see...he has a solid form and a quick release. 6'3 and a body that can take hits for longevity. He's more of a pocket passer compared to a dual threat. From early research, he basically lead the transition of Ohio St.'s offense to a more pass oriented scheme similar to the effect Tua has had on Alabama.
I intend to look closer at both the Purdue and Penn St. game to get a better idea of his negatives. As it stands right now, he's a better prospect than Josh Allen of Buffalo. Way more polished than Darnold. Shorter, but similar ability to Josh Rosen when it comes to his reads.
Having listened to some of his interviews, im on the fence with that aspect of him. The interview after the loss to Purdue reminded me of something I would typically see from Cam Newton after a loss.
P.S. dude seriously needs to learn how to slide
