All of this is true and it is why in the scheme of things he wasn't that impactful in the two SB wins.
Of course he was a part of it but not central to it. You just laid it out right there.
He didn't pick the HC. He didn't pick the QB. He didn't pick most of the OL through that period.
He picked a few really good ones like Nicks, Jacobs, Bradshaw, Collins and OBJ. (+ Cruz and Smith short termers)
Over 11 years he laid many more eggs than that.
Austin and Hosely and Robinson and Nassib and all of the offensive line picks including Beatty, Richburg and Pugh.
So weak that we didn't even make an offer to them.
So, you would do it all over again with JR (not a terrible choice) hoping that he'd find lightning in a bottle twice with 2 average teams and a HC/QB and D on a roll.
I wouldn't take just anyone but I would take another GM in 2007 and bet that we'd win more games and Super Bowls than JR would starting all over again.
Well I guess all this thread has turned into is a hate or don't hate JR thing.
I know you are particularly unhappy with JR. I am less unhappy. I think he's a good football man who had some big misses. It happens. He got fired and that's that.
Sometime, when there is more time that's passed, maybe all or most of us can focus on the positive and let go of the negative.
He is gone, paid for it with his job and he should be totally irrelevant to us at this point just like McAdoo. I am excited to see this next team and focus on possibilities with new weapons, coaches, schemes etc. All that really matters is the road forward.
