It doesn’t seem like sports talk is something you enjoy. Nobody knows anything. Why participate in a discussion if you are going to needle it to death. A question was asked and I stated which of our draft picks I believe in most long term. Very simple. There is absolutely such thing as an elite prospect. The question was which player will have long term impact. I say Barkley because he is a consensus elite prospect. As good a prospect as you will ever find regardless of position. As the odds go, it doesn’t get much better than a kid like Barkley. Anyone who evaluated players professionally or as a hobby had Barkley as a top prospect. Based on everything we currently know about Barkley, our coach, the rest of our team and the other draft picks....it’s very easy for me to put my chips on Barkley as our best long term prospect from this draft. Very very easy. I’m taking the safe bet So because I disagree with you, I don’t enjoy sports talk, and I’m needling something to death? This is a place to post opinions, and oftentimes, there will be others who will disagree with those opinions. I don’t think I’ve been the least bit uncivil, but before something like that does happen, I’ll leave it right here. Have a good evening I think Barkley is going to be a future HOF. Jaydub- How do you know? I think Barkley will be a bust. Jaydub- How do you know? I think Barkley has the tools to be a really good player. Jaydub- How do you know? I think Barkley is going to flame out like every other Penn St. RB Jaydub- How do you know? You're not being uncivil, just a bit too repetitive.

If they all become starters? Definitely not Barkley. RBs don't last very long. Would you take LDT or his guard who played with him for several years?

Now, since we're playing this game...would you take John Hannah or his running back who played with him for several years?

So, it seems folks are pretty well split between Barkley and Hernandez being the most-impactful player of this year's Giants draft class. Interesting results. Thanks for your feedback.

And of course impactful doesn’t always mean good.... Well, I don't think anybody was suggesting that these guys were going to have a negative impact on the Giants. At least I didn't read any comment that intimated that.

Based on everything we know on Barkley and Will H so far, which is likelier to happen? Will H the next Hannah or Barkley as the next LDT/Faulk. I use Faulk as my example because I think their games will be comparable.

What can we determine from that?..especially Hernandez.

Barkley may have more potential be an NFL top tier RB but Hernandez of course has the higher potential to have a longer tenure given his position.

A guy can be great for a few years and not have a whole lot of impact on an organization. A guy can be decent for a lot of years and not have much impact. You have to have some level of high-performance coupled with longevity in order to have any real impact. Eli Manning has never been the best quarterback in the league (in terms of skill). But he has been a good-to-great quarterback for many years. The impact he's had on this team is - for most - indisputable. The year we landed Eli we could have instead drafted Steven Jackson. Jackson rushed for over 1,500 yards in 2006 and led the league in total yards that same year. He was a 3-time Pro Bowler, 2-time Second Team All-Pro, and - because of some gaudy numbers earlier in his career - retired the #18 rusher in NFL history. If I could go back in time and advise Ernie Accorsi of what to do, would I consider taking Jackson over Eli? Not a chance in hell. THAT is what impact means.
