What I love about Rashan Gary is his intelligence when rushing the QB. He doesn't just blindly rush upfield letting the QB step up. He is extremely disciplined and understands how to Contain Rush. Engage the OT and get a push into the pocket so the QB is trapped in a tight well.
The below Pass-Rush at the 2:00 minute mark is perfect.
Pause it at 2:03. Gary could have turned the corner there, but look how smart he is. He comes back inside and attacks the inside shoulder of the LT, staying in front of the QB and trapping him in a tight well, getting a tremendous push in the QB's face. As a result, Trace McSorely is disrupted in the pocket and forces a bad throw, leading to a Pick 6.
This is textbook Contain Rush. Gary at #6 all the way. Gettleman watches film until his eyes bleed. Gary's film shows a selfless player who always played within the defensive scheme, doing the dirty work so his teammates can put up "production" for the box score scouts.

Facts, you say? You're in luck. NFL.com big board www.nfl.com/draft/tracker/prospectsGary is the #7 highest rated prospect, and that includes Jeffrey Simmons at #2 with a torn ACL Walterfootball big board walterfootball.com/nfldraftbigboard Gary is the #6 highest rated prospect He's a Top 7 prospect by both NFL.com and WalterFootball. He may be a top 7 prospect . But he is not a pass rusher. We need pass rushers . Not Left tackle dance partners. I will ask you again . What has he proven to suggest he is a pass rusher? How can you rush the passer without stopping the run first? Gary is a dominant run defender, the best run defender in the draft. He made teams one-dimensional. The Giants could not stop the run in 2018. You seem to be forgetting that. Gary comes in and immediately shuts down the running game. As a Pass-Rusher? In Dom Brown's scheme, he was asked to read-and-react contain rush. His job was literally to engage the OT and generate a push, after knocking the TE back first. He demands a double team on passing downs, whether in the form of slide protection or a TE chip. Often times both. Gary is a game changer.

The John Jerry guy...bwhaha. I am on the Gary train, but can fully understand the arguments against and can see a top 7 or fall from grace...all has been said yay and nay on him...probably some interesting war room discussions regarding him as well. TEM, if we go Gary at 6 and Taylor at 17...I will be here to console you.

Everyone knows I was against drafting Saquan last year .In fact IrishMike and I had 3 page debate about it last offseason on the pros and cons on drafting a RB @2. As soon as he was picked ( within the first few seconds) . I became a Saquan fan and wanted nothing but success for him. It would be the same for anyone we pick. I was one of the few still pulling for Flowers until the end. My attitude is . If he is wearing that Blue helmet with the White NY on the side. .I want him to be the best in the NFL. I am the guy the scrutinizes players without bias . Especially in the first round. I am even tougher on a QB. QBs have venom in their bite. I will point out their blatant flaws. It is not a love hate player thing with me. It is I will not put blinders on just because some talking head suggests I should.

All good, just joking my friend...yes, Mike and I also debated the Barkley at 2 a bit. Still hate the pick. Taylor is a great run blocker, and on the right side he and our new bulldozer guard would open gaping holes for Barkley...give Barkley the lanes Tiki used to get and he takes it to the house quite a bit...Barkley in open field with that jump cut? Ouch.... BTW, I wanted Nelson last year ... best prospect on offensive line I have seen in a decade. If a QB, Mayfield...still believe we needed Allen or Darnold over Barkley. Hated Rosen as a pick...now would rather have him vs Haskins, as it does not put us in QB hell. Laughing at that scenario ... imagine Rosen gets drafted by the cards...gets replaced by Murray. Giants trade a 2 for him, plays okay...Giants get a top pick next year, work a deal and nail their Tua or whomever...Rosen gets traded again to another team, a third round pick this way. Poor kid...talk about inferiority complexes.

We will run the ball down the D's esophagus through their digestive track and out their...…… In other words make them S### their pants with our running game between the tackles.
