How would the Mets handle these negotiations? They would trade him to the Cowboys for 2 day 3 picks and a long snapper to be named later.

Odell Beckham’s agent reportedly has left Giants camp without a deal in place. Zeke Sandhu left after the two sides failed to agree on Beckham’s value, according to ESPN’s Josina Anderson. According to Anderson, the Giants were not ready to make Beckham the highest-paid wide receiver in the league — at least not yet. That honor, by average, is currently held by the Chiefs’ Sammy Watkins at $16 million. Beckham has said in the past he wants to be not just the highest-paid receiver, but the highest-paid player in football. The latter won’t happen, but he has a very good argument to be the best-paid wideout. “They’ll get it done when they get it done,” Beckham said Saturday. “Let my agent and them figure it out. … Optimistic? Yeah, I’m optimistic. It’ll all work itself out. Life always does.” With 2018 being the last year on his deal, the clock is ticking on a potential extension. Giants owner John Mara recently said he wants Beckham “to be a Giant for a long time,” though there is no deadline for a potential extension to be signed. nypost.com/2018/08/06/the-odell-beckham-giants-mega-deal-is-at-a-stalemate/

If I was the Giants GM, I would wait until I saw him play on the field this year! Remember Cruz!

I'm sure it's been said but the problem for OBJ (purely from a business perspective), is he is holding the shorter end of the stick. It's hard to negotiate when legally, the Giants can keep OBJ on the roster for 3 more years without giving him a long term contract. There are a lot of theatrics involved in negotiations like this. OBJ and his agent would be stupid (and they are not) to believe they will get everything they want. It's why OBJ is not holding out....

It's all negotiations. Odell's agent gave their high and Giants have their low. It will get settled somewhere between.

It's not a shock that they didn't get a deal done yet. From a business standpoint, the Giants need to see how Odell plays during the season to see if he's fully-recovered before they ink a new deal. But at least both sides know where the other is coming from and they can work from there.

If this were settled right away, both sides would have felt they made the wrong deal. It will get done.

If the difference is between $16mm and $20mm a year this deal will be done pretty soon and pretty much right we all thought it would be. About $18mm a season and $50-$60mm guaranteed.

I agree, but I have a feeling the Giants are going to play hardball for as long as they can. This is a no brainer. Pay the man.

The Giants have a right to see if he’s fully recovered before they drop over 90 million on the guy. He's already proved that he's 110% percent healthy. There's nothing left to see. It wasn't a career threatening injury.
