Honestly like I have said this season was always going to be basicly a throw away and evaluate/set up for 2020 and beyond.
It's no different.
To me what this does is allow the team to evaluate our playmakers and either develop or by the end of the year target a guy or 2 in the draft for Jones.
What this does however is 1.Everone knows how much I have been evangelical about how a dominant 12 formation cannot be defended, and history proves this, from our 1986 team with Mowatt and Bavaro, those mid 90s Packers teams didnt become serious contenders until they acquired Keith Jackson and Mark Chimura(which caused all.sorts of cognitive dissonance with DCs because they had 2 great outside recievers, which opened up their running game ,and Favre had easy reads),to Patriots dynasty part 1(they were a base 12 in Brady's early years )hell every one of the Patriots super bowl wins they were a dominant 12 formation team, and Eagles on 2017(Ertz and Sellik) Everyone is hoping for another Victor Cruz miracle, why not have it be in the form of Conner, who many have compared to Witten and already is a presence. Shurmer loves the 12 as well, maybe with Conner getting a lot of action, they finally use Ellison like they should (there is no reason why he can't have Jake Ballard type year with his skillsets)along with another year of Engram (who is a better blocker than people realize and working to get better). Why not roll out the 12 60% of the time,Shurmer is a deciple of getting the best players on the field, right now it's a no brainer the 12 would do just this. And if they want to stay balanced with run/pass a 12 makes life impossible for defenses to predict what's going to happen
2.While.not rushing him back, this is the absolute best scenario for Slayton to state his case that he is the dynamic X factor playmaker on this team to the point that it's not a priority come the 2020 draft. If he gets his shot as starter,15 catches for 250 yards and maybe 2 TDs(not earth shattering numbers, but enough to get opposing team's attention when he is on the field)in the hypothetical 4 game Tate suspension would be enough for me to think he is that player.
3.your UDFAs and Etta have an excellent shot now to make the roster...
Worst case scenario the recievers we have other than Tate/Sheppard dont show much .The 2020 draft is loaded...

Golden Tate facing 4 game suspension. This wr corp is in disarray. Injuries Shep looks like he's out for the pre season, and now Tate goes when he comes back. So at least both get work as the flex receiver. The Z receiver looks like it's wide open.
What's it been 4 days the vets have been in camp ? We haven't even had a scrimmage yet. Can't wait till tomorrow everything is going so good. I remember hen our WR unit had tremendous talent at the top and depth throughout. Then DG came. Oh, and another WR who’s issues off the field are impacting him on the field. What will he do?

I hate to the bearer of non news but this team wasn’t going anywhere anyway. If Golden Tate and Corey Coleman are the difference makers in your roster, you still have work to do. This was never gonna be a championship season so if this simply reiterates that for most of us, that’s not the worst thing ever. Absolutely.

If what Tate says is true then his doctor is up shit's creek.
I'm not sure Tate is being suspended without pay, but if he is, his doctor will be liable for his salary.
In addition (and more importantly) he will be responsible for the "pain and suffering" of the millions of us Giants fans.

Here’s a statement from Golden posted an hour ago on Twitter. /photo/1 Looks like he has a good case. May at least get it dropped to 2 games You'd like to think so but big corporations are usually pretty gutless; I expect them to take the easy way with their eyes firmly locked on public relations. You can't avail yourself of wiggle room with the Tyreek Hills of the world if you don't attempt to demonstrate credibility by wielding phony toughness with the Golden Tates. Hill is a star with some potential domestic violence issues, Tate is just some journeyman that took a banned substance.

My bet is Tate gets 4 games. www.nflpa.com/active-players/drug-policies

Tate took something for fertility reasons and he reported it to the league prior to a failed test. i wonder if it was clomid he took? it is often used for pct and fertility to increase testical size and fluid volume. , if so he probably used it after cycling steroids to get his boys to bounce back.

I don't like his statement.
He doesn't say I discontinued before the first test; it says he discontinued before the failed test was confirmed. If my understanding is correct, you take a test and fail, you take a 2nd confirming test.
It looks like he is tryg to sound a lot more innocent that he really is.

I dunno I think Tate is likely telling the truth. He self reported. He told the NFL before the NFL knew about it. We really don't know that. Didn't he say he reported before the failed test was confirmed? Sounds like he had already failed the test.
Let's see what the real truth is. We've heard his side in this statement. All players say they're innocent.
My guess is that the 4 games will hold up. Only because they always seem to be despite the explanations of the players.

Players need to be more careful, especially with this kind of medication.

It may come down to whether or not the doctor had Tate sign an "informed consent" for the medication.
But the doctor is absolutely responsible for knowledge of the composition of the drug/s he's prescribing - it's chemical make-up, it's affects, side-affects, and dosage.
Every doctor knows their patient athletes must avoid certain chemicals. Sounds to me like this doctor was negligent.

If he took it on his own I agree, but he was under a doctor's care. The doctor will have to answer for this, and he/she should go before the NFL to testify on Tate's behalf.

I'm not saying the doc shouldnt have to know what is in drugs he is prescribing. But the doc is not responsible to know what drugs are on the NFL banned substances list. If he specifically told Tate he would be ok with the NFL then he might be liable. Anything short of that is it Tate's responsibility, not the docs.

The NFL doesn't reverse suspensions. Tate is out for the first 4 weeks.
But the good news is, we don't need another 90 catches in this offense because Tate is not very good.

Let's hope so. Given the other WR injuries, it would be really nice if they uphold his appeal, I just think his chances are quite slim.

Right. Like the NFL gives a shit to listen to that. 4 games. This is the NFL and we take our rules very seriously when thy are broken by marginal players. Easy peasy.

Hahahaha... So if Shep, Tate, Slayton and Coleman are all put week 1 vs Dallas, who is our #1 WR? Even with them, we don't have one this year. Right but by default someone has to be

Does the $1.75m lost salary by Tate work its way back to our available cap $ this year?
Anyone know the answer?

Even with them, we don't have one this year. Right but by default someone has to be True. It’s the difference between a title and a rank. Any crappy WR can be called #1, if he’s the 45th best WR in the league he ain’t a #1 he’s just the fastest horse at the glue factory.
