Very cushy offense. Give him a run.

You saw flacco tonight too, right? That’s Eli. 4 years younger.

Imagine Eli trying to run the KC offense.
Nope, I don't think it would work.

Mahomes runs around like a chicken avoiding pressure.
I can't see Eli doing that.

Well we also could make the same excuse for Flacco that we've made for Eli the past 4 years right No we didn't make any excuse's for Eli . Many of us explained to those who couldn't comprehend reality. Yeah same person who wanted Eli to still be the starter when he sucks even with an good offensive line. Only a small few were able to take our Eli blinders off and you weren't one of them....I wish I had the gif of stevie wonder.

Not sure why KC would give up assets for a QB who, at this stage of his career, is not a significant upgrade over Matt Moore...especially when it looks like Mahomes might only miss 3-4 games ....

Because any team that loses a QB for significant time Eli’s name gets brought up. Like many teams want a 38 year old QB who has a no trade clause and the athleticism of a stop sign.

Pocket QBs are antiquated why? ..........still no answer. I did not expect one. All of these running QBs come with a cost.

I did not expect one. All of these running QBs come with a cost. I fully understand the need for a "moble QB" but the thought that they will replace a pocket passer is ludicrous! Tarkington , Staubach..............all running Pocket passer's,Randell Cunningham.............pocket passer. There is such a thing as being mobile in the pocket. Not a running QB, but having the athletic ability to sidestep or roll away from pressure while still looking to make a play downfield. Very tough to win with a prototypical pocket passer who is a statue in the pocket.

Very tough to win with a prototypical pocket passer who is a statue in the pocket. Fully understand but to me it seems some younger fans feel this is a new thing in the NFL ,it's not . I think what's "new" is that coaches are now receptive to quarterbacks who can move. Also receptive to smaller QBs too.
Even so, they'd prefer a taller QB who can run vs. a small type.
Tarkenton was like this but he was always criticized for it and traded several times most likely because of it. He was mobile and small. A bad combo in those days.
Russell Wilson is probably the finest example of this "new" type of QB. Not only is he mobile but he is short at 5'11". His success has changed minds.
Drew Brees is another small mobile QB but this was held against him during his early years.
Mahomes is tall at 6'3" but can still move. He's the ideal. Tall and mobile. Wentz is another but has gotten hurt every year it seems.
The smaller mobile QB may be better able to avoid injury than taller QB. The taller guys are bigger targets, not as stocky and solid. Think Wentz and now Mahomes.
I've a hunch Mahomes has had this same injury before. He seemed to recognize it immediately from what he said. "It's out!"
QBs no matter what their size, mobile or pocket, get hurt. Brady has had serious knee injuries and he's pure pocket passer.
Eli has some magic to avoid injury. It can't be chance.

This is a half truth: All you have to do is go back 5 Drafts to see the relashingship between leaving the pocket and injury. 2018 Draft Baker Mayfield Sam Darnold Sprained foot running outside of the pocket 11-4-2018 Josh Allen Concussion Running for yardage 10-29-2019 Josh Rosen Lamar Jackson Mason Rudolph Knocked out running outside of the pocket 11-6-2019 2017 Draft Mitchell Trubisky Shoulder injury 10-30-2018 running outside the pocket., Dislocates shoulder running outside the pocket 10-29-2019 Patrick Mahomes Knee injury QB sneak 11-17-2019 Deshaun Watson Noncontact Knee injury running 11-2-2017 2016 Draft Jared Goff ( pocket passer ) Carson Wentz Knee injury Qb sneak 12-10-2017 . Spinal compression fracture running outside the pocket. 12-16-2018 2015 Draft Jameis Winston ( pocket passer) Marcus Mariota ( pocket passer) 2014 Draft Blake Bortles Teddy Bridgewater Knocked out 11-8-2015 running for yardage., Noncontact Dislocated knee running 9-1- 2016 Derek Carr Fractured fibula avoiding pressure inside the pocket 12-23- 2016 Jimmy Garoppolo Noncontact knee injury avoiding hit running for yardage 9-23-1018 There is a direct correlation between injuries that result from running and extending plays outside the pocket. 12 Major injuries causing significant time loss from these " new age mobile QBs". All within the last 6 drafts due to running outside the pocket or running for yardage.. Only one that occurred scrambling inside the pocket. IMO: The NFL has a big "mobile" Qb problem going forward.

Very cushy offense. Give him a run. A good game manager can run that offense well. It doesn’t need more than that, why overpay for a stopgap?
