Disclaimer I'm one that is in the minority in that Shurmer needs one more year with more talent,a legit OC that runs the modern style WCO to call plays... And I think unless the locker room goes full 2017 he stays(and I do have issues with him as far as personal use...mainly that we have a natural mismatch on the field in thd passing game that is rarely utilized every time Ellison and Engram are on the field that if tapped into would make ths offense explosive and open up the running game)
But if the inevitable happens I'm banging the drum for Shaw as hs checks all the boxes for me. 1.Experience as a head coach and on team That puts academics ahead of athletes and the team is always a winner. 2.Wins the important games (8-0 vs Cal,very good record in major bowl games) 3.Runs the WCO (so little if any change for Jones adjusting to a new offense early in his career,so enough continuity while learning and the game slowing down for him so little risk of a stagnation having to learn an entire new system year 2 in the league..the biggest reason for QBs to bust). His offense seems to be well balanced run and pass so probably Barkley would flourish (Ses McCaffrey) 4.Extensive early experience in the NFL with success and on successful teams 5.Runs his base out of the 12,extensive use of TEs in the passing game (note how many good TEs get drafted and have produced in the NFL).. 6.This one is a hidden biggie and probably why Pete Carroll hit on so many picks esrly and still does...College coaches are recruiters as well.So even though they miss on many signings they do know these kids. How do you think Pere Carroll knew about Sherman to take him. Its like having an extra super scout in your front office and would be a huge help to Gettleman. We woumd have 5 draft classes of recruits(the 2020 draft and the next 4 years because he has recruited for the next freshman class as well)
Sign me up if there is a change

In the minority? It's just you and FBomb left. We ALL want Shurmur gone. As for David Shaw that's Moreheads guy. And after doing some homework I must say I'm intrigued. 24 years of coaching experience at the College and pro level. A Stanford graduate, who besides this season has done every well over there. Only 47 years old, I think he's that sleeper coach who just needs the right environment to really thrive in.

I think Shaw is a great coach, were Shurmur to be let go,as most of us think (hope) will happen, and he wants to come to the NFL, I'd be all for it.

I don't know how much money Shaw is making but if he's interested in leaving the college ranks and going pro then I'm all for it...its up to the owners to make him an offer he can't refuse....

David Shaw has been absolutely resistant to coming to the NFL as a HC. That of course, is the problem with David Shaw. I think he just really likes being the HC at Stamford.

you know I was telling my wife how wonderful it would be to live on a college campus full time and be a part of that kind of life year round, sounds like you could be right about Shaw not wanting to give all that up for the stress of pro football...but he is still the kind of quality coach we need...

Probably the least pressure big time college coaching gig in the country Really little expectations because of being academics first, and the fact he gets more out of that team. Other than that I'm not feeling any of these other names at all

I agree. I like Shaw, but I don't think he's ever leaving college
