I am a fan of Wayne Gallman. He runs hard, blocks fairly well, and can catch passes. That said, I do not think he is an ideal complement to Saquon. I feel NYG needs a power back. DG needs to uncover a diamond in the later rounds like Jacobs was. Speed will be a bonus but this back must be an exceptional blocker and MOVE THE PILE.

Ehh No
Makes the offense way to predictable to have a plodding big guy that isnt a factor in the passing game. Your better running teams have a stable of guys that don't have a drop off between backs in the passing game and kinda have the same skill sets(See San Fran, all their backs are smaller but fast and great in the passing game) If anything get a FB that can carry the ball on occasion in short yardage
We have Penny already for this

I guess not actually plodding. More like Jacobs or what Henry is able to do. Peyton Hillis rarely got caught for a loss. Not predictable at all, could run RPO with said back, go with a two back set. I know it's hard to imagine, but someday NYG will play with leads. Pounding Saquon into the line to eat the clock does not seem wise. I know it's a different offense but the "Earth, wind, and fire" trio and then later just Bradshaw and Jacobs worked out very well. I know NYG has Penny but rarely use him. Hynoski used to be a beast both blocking and catching passes.

At one time we had 2 FB's that could have filled that role. Play action with those people could keep a LB honest, swing passes as well. And possibly someone on this team run off tackle. But all these WCO guys never have big backs. It's Andy Reid's biggest Achilles heel his whole career.

I just think it's a waste and yes its highly predictable to have a bug slow guy with no pass catching skills,Penny is that guy and I think if we get in situations to run clock Penny ends up the guy. And the way modern football is played it's all about speed, look at the 49ers when they deflate the ball, their backs go house, what a better way to preserve a lead then have one of the backs go house on a tired defense

Big backs are meant to wear team down, and it's not advisable for a team that is always playing from behind to get a one dimensional RB. Jacobs played with Tiki and Bradshaw to offset his skill set...If he was our lead back, we would have been screwed. When you have a defense that can stop teams and keep their offenses off the field, it pays to have a battering ram that can wear down defenses and increase time of possession BUT, you still have to make first downs. We don't have the luxury of drafting non essential skill sets and we aren't creative enough to utilize it. The misusage of Evan Engram and Barkley is almost criminal at this point. Why give these guys more shiny new toys to throw in the closet?

I like the idea of a big back to complement Saquon

Why give these guys more shiny new toys to throw in the closet? Yes Modern football is built around speed and scoring as much and as quickly as possible. And even your run heavy teams, the backs are all multidimensional backs that are equally adapt in the passing game and can score at will. I want all of our backs to have the same skillsets in that they all can break long ones and are a threat in the passing game New Orleans,San Fran,Seattle,Minnesota all have no drop off between backs one and 2. Again, get a fullback(which we have)if you want a big guy,but in a 2 back formation where the other guy is a threat
