Just read the same.. Not sure how i feel about that He does have some good qualities.. .prior Head coaching experience, good OC previously but is he an innovator. Cowboys offense looked stale at times.
Curious what other options are out that. Would have loved Joe Brady Maybe we should hang onto Shula

Just a thought.

This might be under mara's suggestion. Judge said he didn't want coaches with agendas and Garrett would be a guy taking a demotion with aspirations of becoming a head coach again.
It also seems to confirm that Shula's interview did not convince Judge. I said yesterday that if the decision hadn't been made to appoint him oc by today then it was obvious and now they're going ahead with more interviews.

We need someone with experience on that staff. It also gives us a fall back plan if Judge screws the pooch and garrett isn't going to stick around long if we have success. He is putting himself in great position to take over the franchise one day

will this be uncomfortable for Jude is an experienced HC is on his staff? Just a thought. Should be a help ... unless he feels like Garrett is looking over his shoulder or whispering about him to the owners (who seem to like Garrett).
Also wonder if Garrett is just using this job for a stepping stone to another HC gig, meaning that he could be gone after a year and DJ will have to deal with another OC (3 in 3 years). Probably have the same concern with most any OC who comes in here though -- if he's good, he might leave for a HC gig.

Would it be any different is Caldwell or Gruden got the OC job? Everybody's looking to move up if they get the opportunity.

The smart thing is for him to bring Kellen Moore with him and he could be the passing game coordinator and we bring in Callahan for O line coach and running game coordinator Moore could he the step in guy if Garrett leaves

I dont mind this at all. He would instantly be our most experienced coach and has a good track record with quarterbacks. He's much like Shurmur, in that he's probably a better OC than HC.

This would seem like an odd hire IMO especially since one of Judge's key presser take aways was that he wants coaches who can get the most out of their players.....isn't that exactly why Garrett was axed in Dallas?

the best point you made was the offensive game plan. Would be nice to keep that consistent for any QB. I like Garrett's experience but he will be looking for a HC job I would think.

I would rather Shurmur than Garrett. I really don't want them to hire Garrett at all.

Like I said, though, that's probably a concern with most hires ... if they do well, they could jump onto the HC carousel. Sort of a risk you have to take.

I'd prefer him call a game where we put a 50 burger on them on their home field And give them a case of the clap

I don't like this if it happens. He's only won this shit show of a division 3 times and went 2-3 in the playoffs as a HC in 10 years. And I don't think he's much of a "teacher". He never got the most out of the talent on his roster, imo.
