The guy was the consensus top tackle for months, now all the mocks have him dropping. What gives?

Logic dictates that when certain players rise, others slide down. This will fluctuate until late April as everyone engages in group-think.

First pre-draft? Mocks are not an exact science. Best not to read anything into them.

Why does it matter . The film on him did not change.

As recently as yesterday I read an article that says Thomas has the best run block - pass pro combo of all OT’s. Some run block better - some pass block better but none do both at a higher level than Thomas. His film is solid. Film doesn’t drop off.

Shiny new object syndrome That meme you see on social media Pretty girl walking to the left.. Dude looking back at her Girlfriend holding his hand pissed
Pretty girl=,Becton,Wills,Wirfs Dude=bedroom scouts Dude's upsed girlfriend =,Thomas
Happens every year
A lot of teams need OT as usual in the top 15 If Thomas falls out of the top 15 there are a lot of GMs thag passed on him that need to answer questions

These top 4 were all over the place as far as ranking even before the combine and all 4 of them did well with Wirfs just being ridiculous. Some had Wirfs first already so I think, for most of the pros, the combine is just going to be a tool of confirming what the tape suggested in the first place or being a reason to reassess/fine-tune analysis.

I'm one of the few that had Wirfs up there with Thomas as 1a for a while...(watching him litteraly run stride for stride with Noah Fants on a 70 plus yard TE screen made my jaw drop)then reading up on his wrestling background Plus Iowa (already well coached ) You can make a list of reasons why any of the Fab 4 could be the guy we even stay put and take at 4(the tweet of Becton rag dolling that Fla state linebacker,I can't stop watching that ) I know Gettleman has never taken a lineman in the 1st and has a long history of finding good ones rounds 2-5. Gettleman also has never had the opportunity to take anyone of this caliber either. If he practices what he preaches and is all about the hog Mollies and dominating the line of scrimmage...he cant pass on this group

All are Good but neither looks like that next GREAT Franchise Tackle and if you're taking a Tackle at #4 he better be Orlando Pace, Walter Jones, Jonathan Ogdan, Joe Thomas, Tyron Smith and not Greg Robinson or Robert Gallery
Hopefully Line gets addressed by Free Agency here in a few weeks and long before the Draft

For me, unless the Giants have one of these prospects significantly higher than the others, they should trade back up to 4 picks. If they can't trade back and all the prospects are closely rated, they should take the position of greatest value at a position of need - OT. Okudah is the only one I would consider taking over an OT if we can't trade back but, given the options at corner in FA are better/cheaper than our options at OT, I'd prefer OT over Okudah if we have the choice.

I read the title of this thread and thought the poor guy got lost hiking or something? No Red, it is the fact Thomas has just went, post combine, from around 6 on a big board to 12. In a few weeks, after the tape is again watched... he will probably climb back out of that 12 canyon back to the ledge at 9...and then be able to reach the branch at 6 with his amazingly long arms...trying to establish his footwork to get to the 4 spot.

He’s a steady player. His athleticism isn’t elite, and he does have issues with the vertical passing game. Seems to be on the ground too much. Becton is the king of the hill now.

I don't trust mocks...I would rather Wills over him after the combine.

Above average OK People are cringing How can you take a OT at 4 to 6 that doesn't live up to the "hype"(perennial pro bowler, all pro)and is only "above average Would anyone throw Fisher away? Didnt live up to the hype of a 1st overall pick..but above average Helped the Chiefs win a super bowl and been an anchor for one of the best offenses in history Lane Johnson? Never moved over to LT,very few if any pro bowls.... Helped the Eagles win a super bowl and is an anchor Mathews from Atlanta? Above average, helps anchor a perennial top offense in the league.... So if the floor of any of these guys is above average...above average these days means a 10 year solid starter you don't have to worry about that helps your entire offense be really good in all areas...
