I'm actually happy about this. Similar to a Conklin and other high priced FA's, I would've been OK if we decided to sign him but my preference was to look elsewhere. There are a decent amount of players who can help our pass rush, and they won't cost nearly as much as Ngakoue.

Yep And this includes keeping Golden who would cost possibly less than any of these other FAs and probably be cheaper Oh wait We were 4-12,our defense sucked, which means everyone on that side of the ball sucked and has to be replaced in the draft

Just saw on GMFB Ngakoue tweeted he has zero plans on signing a long term deal with the Jags and wants to play elsewhere in 2020.
I've said in other posts, players have the right to play where they want when they hit FA, but when they take to social media to voice their opinions I get turned off. Van Noy did something similar a while back talking about how much he expects to get paid this off-season. After hearing it, I hope it's another team ends up paying him.
Edit: Here's the tweet:

Until Gettleman trades our first and second picks for him without signing him to an extension!

I want a pass rusher to be disruptive and in the back field early and often which I didn't see enough of from Golden. He reminds me of an Ayers type of player but worse against the run..

I don't think any of the top tier guys are gonna make it to market probably only clowney. They should be shopping tier 2 anyway thats where the best value is. We will see where it goes just MHO.

This guy scares me straight up he has sack production but he was never top dog over there. Glad they tagged him 22 mill in todays NFL where the ball is out in 2.5 seconds 90% of the time nah you better be LT.

I'm hoping we sign both Williams and Golden. IMO their both solid players. I don't see us getting Clowney or some other big name FA. We could be more solid of a team with these tier 2 guys in FA. Maybe draft our stars. I really have no idea what to expect.

Would anyone consider trading the #4 pick to the Jags for the #9 pick and Ngakoue? This would still require us to give Ngakoue a huge extension ($20M per), but could result in a situation where we come out of the first with an elite pass rusher and one of the top OT's....

over paying in free agency for players who have already played their best games for some other team doesn't always work out as well as expected, not too big a fan of free agent players...

No Surprise good Pass Rushers typically don't walk away for nothing in this League. They can always work out a deal and remove the Tag
Probably only a Contender would give up that Late 1st Round Pick and turn around and Pay Him similar to what the Chiefs did with Frank Clark and it worked out perfectly for them I would say

And the plot thickens. Yannick Ngakoue @yannickngakoue
The Jaguars are aware I no longer have interest in signing a long term contract in Jacksonville. Duval, I love you and gave you guys everything I got. I’m thankful for the journey and look forward to continuing my career elsewhere. -91

If you're Ngakoue, do you sit on it knowing that the Jags can't trade you until you sign it or do you sign it immediately?

He does seem to create fumbles, that would be nice to see from our side for once...

I know sometimes a team tags a player who wants to stay, but would prefer another contract. Not sure what's positive for anyone, about tagging one who wants out so bad?

Tag and trade I understand there are still other pass rushers available, with high demands but assumeably no trade included - wouldn't the Jaquars risk getting stuck with a resentful player?

Well They are in a difficult situation because they have a malcontent... Why you do this is if he walls you might at best next year get a comp 3rd if the comp math works out. At worst even ask for a 2021 3rd so you are guaranteed that pick.. Get a 3ed or better this year if possible Teams will probably be willing to give up a 3rd this year and possibly a mid round pick next year if they really want him
