This is the way I see it. You have a good OT , pass rusher, Corner. QB. You don't let them walk. It is the GM's job to find a way. That is what separates an NFL GM form us. Unless the players bark is bigger than his bite. Example: Josh Norman. Doesn't always work out that way. Plenty of good players hit free agency. Money is certainly a big factor for them since they have their QB and RB hitting free agency. They also have their starting CB hitting free agency, both ILBs as well. Their money is going to start to get stretched pretty thin, very fast. Keep in mind they will probably be looking to make improvements to their roster in other areas as well. Then factor in this is a very deep OT class with 6 OTs that are 1st round talents. They would save money for other areas by drafting an OT instead of re-signing him and for a team with not a ton of cap space that makes sense.
No word has been said whether they will try or not to re-sign him though. I imagine if they were done with him completely word would have spread by now. I don't think they have a problem with the player, its the $ that is an issue. They don't have much to keep all these players plus a top OT which damn near every team could use.

Yes and he's played great on this contract of his. Last year was the first year I thought his game might have taken a step back. Despite any stats. We should have signed him 3 years ago and so many here were afraid of his age. Water under the bridge I guess. In the grand scheme of things Whitworth would have been like putting a band aid on a lepper on that team....and knowing our luck he tears a pec in training camp that year You make me laugh GL, a lepper smh. Someday I have to have a beer or two with you. You give great threads.

Could be our new Kareem McKenzie Not even close Kareem was solid as a rock for us for years. One of the best FAs we ever signed. I really hope Conklin can be that guy for us if we sign him but to match Kareem, he'd have to be awesome for years. I wish we saw him more in retirement. We often see past OL greats on shows and stuff but not a peep from this guy.

This is intriguing, because Kelvin Beachum didn't play very well from what Jet's fans tell me, and is probably not getting re-signed with NYJ.
