He's actually a pretty good player. Not as good but a Little like Bradshaw not big but runs hard and is good out of the backfield.

Hell yea! I've always been a fan of Lewis'. He helped me in FF years ago, so I've always noticed him since then. Like someone mentioned, a Bradshaw type. Tough, hard runner despite his size, elusive, good hands, etc. Love it.
I never even considered him as a potential acquisition, but he's a great compliment to what we have....when healthy. Probably a 3rd down player, playing 2nd fiddle to Barkley and Gallman.
Another solid signing by DG, in my opinion.

This signing should put him on notice in that department. A player as competitive as him should rise to the challenge. We need Barkley to get better on 3rd and longs so he can be utilized as a weapon out of the backfield.

This is good. Im in the minority that thinks squads isnt a everydown back, and has struggled blocking on third downs.

He does struggle with pass protection which is odd. Nice is great off the field, on it put your shoulder through somebody.

This is basicly in case we can't find anyone else in the draft or an UFA to do this role

Is it possible Barkley looked lost in pass pro because the OL was not picking up the right guys? Honest question because there were plenty of former NFL linemen last year pointing out how our OL troubles were at least partly poor coaching and wrong assignments. Barkley looked better as a rookie than he did last year in pass pro for sure.
We shall see this year. Even if he were terrible at pass pro he would still be a 3 down back, he can get 100 catches a year and is a threat to take it to the house each time. That guy stays on the field unless he is needing a rest. I'll take a WR or TE off and let Nick Gates stay in the backfield to block before taking Barkley out of the game.
