just asking because of our sad need for a pass rusher, know we don't have much cash but maybe there is a way because right now I think our success this coming season will depend on our pass rush...

He is not worth what he believes he is. The reason he is unemployed.

Pass. We are still not in a "win now" situation. If he was the final missing piece, maybe.

I believe if he still wants to be paid big money like a big time pass rusher he has to sign a 1 year show me contract. Or a incentive ridden contract which I doubt he does cause he won't be able to live up to it.
But there might be 1 caveat if the secondary can cover for that extra 1 to 11/2 seconds. Say like the NY Giants new young and talented secondary. Clowney and Williams can become double digit sack guys. Hmmm

Short answer, no.
We have 17.1 million in cap space. Need to hold at least a few million in reserve for in season emergency transactions. And, that would leave no roll over for any kind of future flexibility. We are not a Clowney away from a ring. There is no reason to sign him.

Like most people, I was enamoured with Clowney coming out of college. He has underwhelmed to say the least as a pro. I don't think he is worth close to the $$ that he's looking for, and we can't afford anything close to that. I'd pass as well.

He is not worth what he believes he is. The reason he is unemployed. maybe after he stops listening to his agent who only wants a high price to get a bigger share of the pie. I think Clowney is a really good player when he wants to turn it on but that's not always the case but he is someone who OCs around the league will have to game plan for...

I agree that pass rush is a need.
I don’t think it’s financially feasible to sign Clowney. He wants more than we have.
I don’t think Clowney is the answer even if we had the money. I’m content to see how our 2nd and 3rd year guys develop this year and reevaluate in March 2021 when Solder et. at. Come off the books and a scouted draft class in front of us.

You never sign a guy like that. All that accomplishes is sending a message to the rest of the team that behavior like this is acceptable.

Everything about him states he is not a good pass rusher. No quit Justin Tuck was a good pass rusher . Clowney could not shine Tuck's shoes.
