It looks liked Shurmer and Bettcher were sleeping during the games. No adjustments at all. I think its been proven Baker fell asleep in some meetings. And showed a lot of lackadaisical attitude as far as learning goes. And that showed up on the game film. To your point, I don't see how ANYONE could have any confidence in Bettcher after that train-wreck of a season. The one game that really pops out at me was the Tampa bay game. I know the Giants eventually won it but the fact that he left JJ on an island with Evans while he was getting abused over and over again is unforgivable. Bettcher completely embarrassed JJ and poisoned his relationship with the Giants. Why the F wasn't he giving JJ help? I have a few comments on that. I was there so I got a good view of Jackrabbit getting burned. He definitely had the worst game I can remember, but there was a few plays that were big to Evans that he did get help (or was supposed to). The safeties were out of position on a couple. And I think another he was being doubled but the other CB doubling fell down. And I do believe hearing that last deep bomb to Evans where Jenkins was chasing from first step, was blown safety help. The guys just didnt understand the system yet. That, and Jenkins had an awful game.

Seems like that's a challenge to let him just go man and let him prove himself. I know it would be ridiculous for a coach to purposely allow his unit get humiliated like that, but it's possible once the finger pointing started, sensibilities go out the window.

I didn't know about that. Do you have a link? Like you said, even though it would be stupid if it happened, it could have.

All of this from an anonymous, invisible, north pole living, willy wonka chocolate bar eating source, who everyone believes in 100%. 1. You think Shurmer would get another job in the NFL if he's known to let players who sleep in meetings start 15 games? 2. You think a tenured defensive coordinator would allow a rookie CB, who didn't know the playbook, to start 15 games against his job security and credibility? All I'm saying is don't believe everything you hear in the streets.. that's dangerous. Actually you couldn’t be more wrong if you tried. There are numerous sources that coincided with the story. And it was well known players on the team had enough of his juvenile bull shit. First, Shurmur from all accounts is an extremely likable guy and is well respected in the NFL circles. He was a horrible head coach, but as we saw. He got a job fairly quickly. How he conducted himself with Baker clearly had no affect on him getting new employment. Also, you keep using the 15 games reasoning. Have you seen the depth of the Giants cornerbacks last season? Besides Jenkins and Baker you had Sam Beal, who if I didn’t see him play last year I would have thought he was a figment of my imagination. Grant Haley, he couldn’t cover you if you were running in slippers. Hamilton is a glorified special teams player and has no business playing on defense. Love (your boy) moved to safety. And Ballentine was clearly not ready to play meaningful games. Additionally, Baker was traded up for in the 1st round from our GM, he was destined to play a lot. Second, Bettcher like many coaches in this league are at the mercy of high draft picks. I’m sure he ripped Baker a new one on many occasions. But to bench him and play the other stooges instead would be waving the white flag. You play your best 11 players. And as much of a jerk off Baker was, he’s better than the other options. And lastly, I don’t believe everything I read. Your post for instance, I don’t buy it. There was so much smoke when it came to Baker it could have started a forrest fire. Depending on his legal issues he will or will not get a chance to redeem himself. Like it or not he’s labeled as a talented lazy player.

Just speculation on my part, and some here said that would have been ridiculous. But we al know things can get that way, once players start calling out and challenging coaches.

Read Bakers attorney expects charges to be dropped and the case is essentially won.
Good news for us I suppose. Hope he doesnt face suspension from the league.
