All that money but this guy can't stay on the field...SMH ha has missed 4 games in his whole career. Now he will miss a few more. He is pretty much always on the field. I stand corrected...Seemed like a lot more but he is dinged up a lot and I know that he has played injured at times which limits his effectiveness...

And to think back to the old boards when I got destroyed for not liking this signing. He wasnt ever a great DE/LB. Overpaid him completely. Wont be here next year. Before you jump off a bridge remember it's game one of week one,I think it will be ok. Want a cookie? You and these ledges and bridges, and jumping off... From your words, it appears like you are pretty insecure with your feelings of the team. I just dont think they have what it takes. Especially with Eli facing pressure. We know how that all ends up. And Ill take a Chocolate Chip thank you.

Asides from OV, it looks like we are going into the opener as healthy as we have ever been for an opening game. Besides, I think it's gonna be a case of our OL vs their DL, we wanna win this game, we have to win the battle of the trenches when we have the ball. TOP is gonna be key as well as our O's ability to move the chains vs the J-ville D.

I never blame a player for getting overpaid. Facts are fact however, he is not a great DL. We overpaid because we drafted so poorly for a very long period of time. When we don't find and develop young talent we have to overpay in FA and THAT is not a winning formula. The same happened on the OL where we overpaid Solder (and still have 3 holes there). He is an upgrade for sure but a highly overpaid one. I agree. I know why we overpaid. Just like why we overpaid Solder. Years of shitty drafting by a bad GM. I dont think the Solder signing will be as bad as the OV signing but I do think we overpaid him completely. The guy never even made a probowl, played in that Belicheck system which makes everyone look better, and we made him the highest paid LT in the game. He is going to be pretty average IMO.

Gee what a surprise ... this guy has been well worth 18 mil. a season huh? Reese's pieces just keep on giving. Hopefully he can still kneel for the anthem though.. He had no injury issue before signing here Oh wait..you are one of the hot take kings around here.

Average is OK until it becomes overpaid. The cap creates limited resources and every dollar overpaid to someone creates a deficit elsewhere. That really hurts our ability to build a strong roster.

Opportunity for Lorenzo Carter to shine. Guy has to take advantage of this & show the FO he could be OV' replacement next yr & for yrs to come. could be a blessing in disguise having Carter play. Kid was a beast for GA

OV is a good player. Probably overpaid, but that's NFL free agency for you. I prefer he doesn't ruin his season early playing before he is ready. It's a team right? Next man up.

Giants still so shady about injuries even with new regime - claimed it was an ankle contusion not a high ankle sprain (that idiot Russ Salzberg was on BBKL explaining how the team was very clear about this distinction) A day later, oh yeah, he has a high ankle sprain. Since when is a high ankle day to day?

All top FAs are over paid. I like OV....plays hard all the time, plays nicked up, and produces. Always around the ball. I like him too and he is good against the run also...I admit I was too hard on him . it's just frustrating that we don't have too many guys who can get to the QB and OV one of the few we have is out before the session starts. Hopefully He will really flourish in Betcher's defense...

Since when is a high ankle day to day? Seems pretty obvious at this point he does have a high ankle sprain. They tried to pawn it off as a "sprain and a bruise" but my bet is at least week 4, and that is generous. Need Gettlemans draft, FA and waiver picks to step up.

who cares if the Giants are "shady" about a player's injury? I mean do we, as fans, really need to know every detail? It would be nice but its a protocol and every single team does it. Its part of the business. OV has a hurt ankle. There you have it.
Bottom line is he is not playing today. We will find out if he is a go for the next game later in the following week.

Damn he needs to come back soon and healthy. He’s probably the biggest piece to the defense and the team was counting on him to bring the pressure.

What a colossal waste of money Vernon has been! 85 million for a guy who gets hurt when the wind changes direction. Only 12 games last year and now missing the 2018 opener. Any suggestions on how to prevent this?

Huge loss. Best pass rusher on the team, and a solid against the run. This was no surprise though, high ankle sprain take weeks to heal. Vernon has shown throughout his career that it takes a lot for him to miss a game.
Next man up, nature of the business.
