I’m missing the Keyshawn Johnson reference. Regardless, a top 10-15 WR isn’t bringing that much back. Like I said Hopkins is a better player and he didn’t bring anything close to 2 firsts back, I can’t imagine why we’d think Beckham would. KJ was traded for 2 firsts back in the day. The entire planet knows Houston's BOB screwed up that trade. Kinda like how we both agree Seattle way overpaid in this trade. He is a safety. Who will demand HUGE money in a year or so. Is he better than Peppers and McKinney? Probably much better. But he is still a safety. Kinda seems like Seattle is going all in on this year. With all the Covid stuff going on, not sure its a smart gamble. lol, The Johnson trade was twenty years ago. Back when RBs got drafted in the top 5. Two things can be true at once: the Seahawks overpaid hugely for Adams and Beckham or any other top WR isn’t worth multiple first rounders. That’s my view on it.

Seahawks and Browns in two totally different positions with the state of their teams. Seattle can afford to give up the farm for a single piece they can use. The Browns were/are not in that position. cant compare these trades at all. The problem is, it wasnt just the Browns in on Odell. And DG didnt want to listen or negotiate. It all comes down to what you think Peppers was. He WAS a first round pick, but IMO he isnt a first round safety after playing a few years. That said, if you think he was a first round talent still and worth a 1st, then that would be the equivalent of 2 first rounders, but Peppers would need to get paid sooner than the Giants own 1st round pick. As much as I wanted Odell gone, I feel like we should have either got a top 7-8 pick (plus some later rounders) or 2 later 1st rounders. I dont think DG tried enough to max the value we could have gotten. There are plenty of other examples too. Not just Adams. Recently Khalil Mack to Chicago, Leramy Tunsil to Houston, Jalen Ramsey to Rams... All got 2 first rounders back. not proper analogies IMO. Also how do you know what DG did with the OB trade? Which offers were better than he "turned down"?

If Barkley wouldn’t bring back two first rounders, it’s ludicrous to think Beckham would do so.
It isn’t like the league doesn’t have eyes; the market sees WRs - like Beckham - without fan bias.

Top WRs get paid slightly less than pass rushers and LTs. So, they're definitely one of the higher valued positions. We also ate a lot of dead money in that Beckham trade, I'd say the value was about right to slightly less than it should have been, based on my completely arbitrary scale. edit note: WRs are actually the second highest franchise tag for the 2020 season, behind only QBs.

That's fair. I expect that to be especially true for franchise WRs in established situations. I just don't know how much more the Giants could have expected for Beckham. His talent is unquestionable the issue his baggage plus injury concern.
