I agree but is my conclusion wrong? If it is. I am open to your or anyone's take on this. We have done everything else but put a center emplace that can do the job. And it has not matter what OG OT draftee or FA we bring in. They look like they never played in their life. It is not them . It is because as unit is not on the same page . That is the Centers responsibility to make that happen. I think you're assuming that I think that getting a pure center is not right. I'm not saying that. What I'm trying to find out is if there was a center available this offseason that is better than what we have. I dont follow the entire nfl well enough to know how other centers are playing, but i know there's people on this forum that do. I wanted to sign connor mcgovern in the offseason, but don't know how he's looking so far. This is probably also right. There was no one available AND the Giants know we need another off season to be competitive so it’s probably their top priority to find one after this season ends. They make due until then.

This is growing pains. Hopefully, they will improve. IF, Giants can go 2-2 , in the first four games. It will be a very good start. Unfortunately, you have to actually win a game to get to 2-2.... This is a tall task for the Giants in recent years... Good lord.....it would be a minor miracle for the Giants to go 2-2 in preseason games.......and they were cancelled.

It's not the Centers responsibility for the way the entire veteran OL performs in the first game of the season, with 3 new players in the group. The reality is the group got noticeably better as the game went along. The offense had some great drives in the second half. This should be encouraging. A couple plays by the goal line and a missed fumble opportunity essentially decided the outcome, regardless of the way the line played overall. If they are not on the same page. And they weren't. Who is to blame? They could not run the ball and the Qb was pressured on 63% of his drop backs. That is as about as is bad is it gets for an opener.

You don't blame the Center when your best players Hernandez and Zeitler both played terribly.

That is on the Center. The first part might be right, the second part is wrong. The Center is not responsible for the blocking of the other 4 players on the line.

1 game against an elite front 7.
Gates gets more time to improve and grow into the position. Everyone gets more time this year.
Going on about who we should have drafted or signed seems like the biggest waste of time and effort to me. It’s not even the fun kind of mental gymnastics. Just pointless.
If you think pulley or Haycraft or Lemieux is the better option for short term and long term I’d understand. Anyone think about moving Gates to RT, putting in pulley and benching Fleming? That’s the fun kind of mental gymnastics.

The Center is not responsible for the blocking of the other 4 players on the line. If they do not know who their assignment is. That is the job of the center to coordinate that my friend. We don have that guy so the rest of them are left to their own devices. In the kitchen of a restaurant. All the kitchen staff are making salads . No Entrees. No Appetizers , No deserts.... Just salad. Who is at fault .The kitchen staff has a top rated sous chef and a pastry chef. The kitchen staff that was left to their own devices or the head chef that is clueless on how to run the kitchen?

It was clear to anyone who knows football, that if the center and right tackle stink, the whole offensive line will look bad as a unit.......and the Giant’s right tackle and center played as bad a game as most will ever see in the NFL. It is hard to imagine how these two even made it on an NFL team, and beyond belief that they are starters.

On the PS. Listed as an ot but I thought he was getting reps at center. I could be making that up though.
