Seeing some people think we should put in waiver claim for McKinley. What do you guys think?

Dude.....no brainer. I'd kick those tires The only reason I would hesitate is because he's a twitter diva, which why I am guessing is why he got released.

why was McKinley waived, anybody know? Not sure, but I think it's because for the past couple of weeks he's been going on twitter to vent his frustration with the team and asking to be traded or released.

To claim him don’t we have to waive a player? And if so, who? We just picked up Sheard two weeks ago. And the Giants are slowly bringing Brown and Coughlin into the mix.
Odd, a 1st round pick is released after 3 seasons.

He is a below average pass rusher and tackles no one. We are a top 10 team in sacks (#8) How again does this one sack wonder help us?

Meh...he is a little undersized for my liking. I'd preferably like my edge guys 6'4 or 6'5. We already got some smaller developmental guys.

He is a good football player. He is also a brutally honest football player. He isn't afraid to publicly demand a trade and let his followers know the status of his situation. We all know how the Giants and a shitload of our fans feel about those types of players. If I were to guess, I think that he will end up on a team like Tennessee or Las Vegas.

The odds of the Giants claiming him are at about 0%.

And with what just went down with Tate I would say there's zero chance Judge would want a twitter mogul speaking outside the locker room.

Bit of a Diva and he makes his business public via Twitter- oh, and he's battling a groin injury. I mean, I'm not against bringing him in, he could be productive next year when healthy, but the head case aspect is unnerving and he's playing at 50% because of the injury, so this year..... Meh...
***edit- I believe he is on year 4 of his rookie deal... can we claim him on waivers and pick up the 5th year, or would he need a new contract?

A lot of kicking the tires in this thread. Is Takk McKinkey a tire? Krunnch raises an interesting question here. I know I'd like to know the answer.

I'm not disputing that, but there are a lot of people that can't handle the truth or someone's honest opinion. Anyways, the chances of the Giants signing this player are lingering at around 0%.

It's a concern that a highly drafted DE is being cut from a bad team before their rookie contract is up. Can't say I have watch him play a down and when the Giants played them he wasn't noticed by me.. This all screams pass but then what is the harm of "kicking the tires" at a position of need..

if he wanted to be traded form the Falcons why would he want to come here? Sounds like a dude who wants to go to a winner or else he will be a whiner....

Pro Football Reference has him at 14% of the defensive snaps for 2020, only appearing in 4 games. I would honestly keep away from him. His post draft interview raised some eyebrows and bashing the Falcons on social media doesnt help. After what Judge did with Tate, I dont see them wanting to bring him in especially since he is due a contract.

As a waiver pick up you absorb his current 1st round contract, but you have none of the guaranteed money attached to it, so you can cut him at any time with no cap ramifications. I believe they can also still choose to exercise the 5th year option on him. If he comes in here, starts being an issue, just send him back to waivers. It isn't like any bottom of the roster player we release to make room is going to find a roster spot elsewhere.
