It's an unusual year to to say the least and looking at the standings, I think it's fair to say that this year may be an exception with the selection of a representative for MVP.
Teams like the Saints, Packers and Seahawks wouldn't ordinarily be getting deep consideration but this year, normal conventions seem to be out the window so here's my roster of potential QBs plus a dark horse candidate for fun. The obvious teams are listed first:
Chiefs - Mahomes Steelers - Rothlisberger Seahawks - Wilson Packers - Rodgers Tampa - Brady* Saints - Brees/Kamara*
*with Brees hurt, Kamara's value seems to have slipped as well. But Brees and Brady are hook, line and sinker NFL Hallmark Theater stories so you always have to account for that. Neither the Saints or Bucs is really playing at MVP candidate level but there's always a percentage of fudge factor that needs to be served. Brees' injury also opens the door to Kamara although that is clearly a huge long shot given his position.

I think you started this thread just so you can say “fudge factor.” My vote goes to Mahomes.

I was also Mahomes guess it's between him and Rogers.
Nobody is giving my guy really any thought. Derrick Henry. Did Tannerhill's season screw up King Henry ? I know the QB always gets the award.

Could be argued their passing game is making Henry that much more lethal He is not seeing stacked boxes anymore because of their deep threats outside They are going to possibly have over 4000 plus k in the air and Henry over 2K on the ground

It'd be great if Henry got it. And for some reason I keep seeing Rodgers because of the story, but 13-1 is hard to argue with. We'll see.

But we must have those WR's. Jones and Barkley could be similar. 2 WR's and a strong RT away. I am hoping, But Christmas is the season for miracles so I can ask Santa for what I want.

I think Mahomes but Henry for the Titans is pretty damn valuable as well Tennessee will need to closer that W-L gap to give him a real chance, he's got two things going against him.

In the unlikely event he breaks the record (could be the last time someone breaks that record in a 16 game schedule)Henry has to be considered seriously even if he is facing thin boxes because their weapons force teams to have to defend the entire field

Rodgers appears to be catching Mahomes, and possibly passing him...
Rodgers 44 TDs 5 INTs 4,059 yards (Packers 12-3) Mahomes 38 TDs 6 INTs 4,740 yards (Chiefs 14-1)

Last night’s win really made this a two team race with Brady of Rodgers has two advantages as this wraps up, firstly Mahomes got it last year, secondly Rodgers is old and likely won’t have any more bites at this apple and the media loves a good story. And while I’m sure they’re dying to give it to Brady, KC and GB would probably need to lose out for that to happen.

Yeah, Brady is playing much better than I anticipated this season, but another thing against Tom is the weaponry he has at his disposal which is arguably the tops in the league surrounding a QB and blows way past what Rodgers has. DeVonte Adams is great, but to me, Rodgers makes him great. Lazard and St Brown are JAGs right now. I cant say the same for Evans or Hill. Those 2 are great no matter who is throwing to them. Mahomes has himself some weapons though too.

Ultimately it comes from the writers and most of them need to wipe their chins when takin g about Brady so you can't count him out in something as amorphous as this. I tend to stick to the historical trend unless there is a compelling reason no to do. In this case Rodgers is the exception already based on record, Brady would be a dark horse because of his record and Mahomes is the clear favorite....Rodgers is the sentimental favorite. Anyone else would be a surprise.
