Wentz to Pittsburgh? Ben is done. Wentz could be the physical and experienced QB they need to stay competitive. Of course they'll need to work on that contract but with eagles motivated to get some relief don't be surprised if something to gets done here.

I can’t see Pittsburgh making this deal. We’re talking about a Steelers franchise that shies away from mega deals, and believes in the draft. I highly doubt they want to give up draft capital and take on a big contract.

They went to a super bowl with the likes of Neil O'Donnell. and lost when he coughed up a pick. They went thru a lot of lean years without a legit franchise QB. Just don't see them wanting to take that path again.

Of course they'll need to work on that contract but with eagles motivated to get some relief don't be surprised if something to gets done here. I am expecting Pittsburgh to try gently to ask Ben to retire. Then go sign a veteran QB. Not necessarily Wentz. But a definite possibility. It would be better for everyone to get him out of Philly.
There is talk Ryan or Stafford is a possibility that they could break loose on the trade block. It wouldn't cost Pitt any more money than Ben did. They would rework the contracts. Pitt is ready to win now. Darnell is another possibility.

However there is always exceptions.
They need a veteran QB ready to win Day 1 on the job. There team is built to win now. Can't waste this teams talent waiting for a young QB to be ready. If you believe in young experienced QB's Wentz and Darnell may be your guys.
If you want more proven Ryan or Stafford there has been talk of cutting them loose and going younger.
The contracts can be reworked shouldn't cost Pitt anymore than they were paying Ben.

Maybe Sam Darnold, after the Jets select Fields.

Ben's dead cap is 22.5 . Wentz's contract is 25.4. That is 48 million on a 175 million dollars in cap space. 27% of the allotted cap space for a QB. That would be an insane move. Rich is correct contracts and cap space can be manipulated , and the GM can kick the can. At some point the books have to be reconciled. The money has to be paid.

Maybe Sam Darnold, after the Jets select Fields. I was JUST thinking about a deal like this for them. It would make sense for all parties and would benefit both teams That being said, the Jets will wind up drafting a DT or something stupid with the 2nd overall pick.... Jets gonna jet

Brady, Wilson, Jackson, Brees, Rodgers even Mahomes at 11, all were not in the top of their drafts. I know his last game wasnt great (although the game before vs Bama was great), but Kyle Trask could be a name to watch out for in the draft for Pittsburgh IMO. 6'5'' 240 big physical and can throw.

Watch, the Steelers acquire Deshaun Watson for a ham sandwich and a 2038 3rd round pick.

They have to get rid of him somehow.

How will Philly be able to absorb that 35 million dead money hit already 75 million over?
They are stuck with him

Maybe at a nice anniversary dinner where they are sharing their grandkids and everybody is happy we could casually bring up how they get such good picks in the draft always picking much later than us.
There drafts keep supplying them with what they need. And their secret to come up with WR's in the draft between the 3rd and 6th picks. Over and over they do this.

They do. Every year the Steelers make sure to give Mara and Tisch tickets to the playoff games. The Steelers are the gold standard to running a professional organization. 3 head coaches since ‘69, the same ownership since the beginning, and they’re one of the few franchises that doesn’t believe in signing big free agents. They draft as well as anyone, and they know when to make trades. I would be happy if we drafted half as good as them.

There was some talk of Miami going QB. If credible, I'd talk about getting Tua if I were Pitt.

This franchise believes in the draft, even at quarterback.
