Definitely looks like Wentz has a much better chance of staying now that Pederson is fired. But my questions are What do you do with Hurts? What HC wants to come into a situation like this, with the Wentz/Hurts situation? And most importantly, what do you do with the Foles/Pederson statue outside the Eagles stadium? IMO this is a great situation for a new regime. You have 3 options at QB and only 1 can you take blame. Option 1- Keep both and let them compete, eventually trade the loser. Option 2- trade Wentz and roll with Hurts. Option 3- Keep or trade both and draft a QB at 6 or make a deal to move up.
Lots of options. Usually when you take over a team there are no options at QB.
But if Hurts was a Howie guy, do you think he'll be fine just trading him a year later? I really dont know. It sounds good in theory but I'm not sure its that simple I would think the FO and HC want to go into 2021 with a clear vision especially at the QB position.

Never, felt Pederson was a top notch coach. He was fortunate to have Foles as a backup QB. He also inherited a talented team. Garrett , now may be in the running as there HC. I also believe Pederson rode the coattail of Frank Reich. Once Reich left as offensive coordinator, there was a dramatic difference.

Maybe Wentz will want to stay now? Easier to replace the HC than the franchise QB... Well, maybe two big contracts get traded for each other. Watson wants to be traded in Houston and Wentz wants to be traded in Philadelphia. Doubt it, but hell of a thing if it happened.

The ONLY surprise is how people are reacting to the news like "WOW!!!!"....."CAN'T BELIEVE IT!"...."I GUESS IT WAS...."
You LITERALLY don't have to go any further than a Head Coach in the National Football League threw a game on national television. Try explaining that to your players, your fans and your owner. The only other thing that maybe surprises me (other than people being astonished) is that it took over a week to can his ass.

In terms of accomplishments he’d be a great candidate for any job. But the controversy over week 17 might be too tough of a sell for any fan base.

The NFL is all about second, third and even fourth chances. If guys like Leonard Little and Donte Stallworth can find work after accidentally killing a fellow human being, I’m sure some team will give Pederson another shot. He might have to be an assistant for a bit, but it’s not like he’s going to put his resume on indeed.

I think Pederson put his neck in the noose and jumped, the only way Pederson's decision makes any sense is if he wanted out anyway, but tarnishing his image this badly was a screwy way to do it..

Perfect time to grab a young coach and let him grow with the team. You think the Eagles have to blow up the whole thing and start over with young coach and players ? Fire sale for draft picks ? Probably keep the vets who carry the tradition proud trade what they can and start over. They might want to avoid eating Wentz money who knows.

I am surprised by this mostly because I would have thought that he has Lurie's blessing or buy in on what he did, knowing it would get them a #6 pick instead of #9. Guess not. Surprised that it was all on Pederson.

I just find it hard to believe that Pederson did it all on his own.

The HC was pissing everyone in the org off all year long. Would not surprise me if he wanted out. Obviously ownership soured on him and didn’t want to have to defend the optics of the final game.

It would be an instant massive upgrade and the first real head coach they've had in a long time. 3 trips to the playoffs in 5 years with one Championship. He's easily the best candidate on the market.

Surprised that it was all on Pederson. I think the HC and GM in Philly were both down on tanking, as was the owner. Pederson did something else to piss off the owner. I bet Pederson will land on his feet a lot faster than the egals do.

NFL channel just announced it at 2pm. The Jets are already supposedly interested. All sorts of rumors flying. The Eagles had a meeting a couple days ago and another today that didn't go well.
Stay tuned Glad this is the fallout after him throwing the game. I really don't see another locker room wanting him to be their new leader either.

Think Pederson and their GM might have had a talk ? Just sayin ?

Who you got your eye on rich? As far as Pederson the Jets seem the most likely if he wants to come right back. Otherwise he sits in the sun in Florida for a year.
The Eagles lets see who wants that mess. Looks like their owner Lurie wants to keep Wentz. So now what happens ? Hurts has to go, right ? Now if you want this job you must be willing to start Wentz, right ?
I think a first time HC. Lots of candidates I would think.

Do not go near the open window. Ok now that your under control I think their owner told him exactly what you said.

You're probably right. But if they do that surely it just digs another big deep disconnect between the Jets locker room and the coaching staff, again.

Hurts is still unproven. He had shown glimpses during the year but in no way did he earn the starting job..Wentz went downhill quick, bizarre how that happened. Essentially Philly has zero viable options at qb

I don't think it's going to be a big deal for the Jets players or fans, after what's been going on with Gase. The connection is there between Pederson and their GM, who has a great draft to look forward to.
