Today certainly is not off to a good start. This man is an absolute baseball legend. Rest easy, Hammerin Hank.

Morehead said it right the other day. It is pretty depressing seeing all of these people that you've either grown up watching or grew up hearing stories about pass away.

Even with all of the death threats and endless amount of hate that he experienced, he still handled himself with class and displayed an unmatched level of perseverance. America lost an icon today.

Just saw this. As a kid he was someone I looked up to. Only later on did I learn what the man had to endure.
RIP

I remember listening to an interview and he was asked what was his greatest achievement. Most would think he would say his 755 homeruns. Or his 2,297 RBI’s. Nope, he said his total base record. He felt that record will never be broken, and I agree. He played in era with some of the all time greats. But, he always stood above them all. Rest In Peace Hammerin' Hank..

From Mushnik:
FYI - The non-juiced Aaron averaged just 68 strikeouts per season while McGwire averaged 138, and ARod 133 Ks per season.

Remembrance of times past:
Brooklyn, late summer, 1956. Here I am, sitting in the upper right-field stands at Ebbets Field (buck and a quarter to get in), Dodgers vs. Braves, late in the game, score tied (I think), Hank Aaron at bat, can't remember who's pitching (was it Eddie Roebuck?), pennant contenders fighting it out.
Players often describe how sometimes they get in a zone, and the game slows down, as if everything were in slow motion. This happened to me as a spectator during that at-bat.
I'm thinking, "Pitch very carefully to Hank, off-speed, breaking stuff, off the plate".
The pitch leaves the pitcher's hand, and I can see it's a fastball, belt-high, heading for the outside corner.
Dismay.
"Hank's going to pulverize this cookie", I'm thinking. But no! For some reason he's going to let it go by for a strike, and everything's going to be all right in Flatbush! The pitch is almost in Campanella's glove, and the bat hasn't left Hank's shoulder.
Joy!
Not.
With a barely-perceptible flick of the wrist, Hank lines the pitch down the right-field line, over the 40-foot fence, into Bedford Avenue.
Gloom.
Hank had swung at a pitch that was by him, and had hit it out of the park. I've never seen anyone else do that.
May he rest in peace.

One of my favorite players of all time. Hank Arron was the personification of what it means to be a class act. RIP.

I think it's worth noting that Hank Aaron died 18 days after receiving the vaccine for the Chinese Communist Virus.

RIP Hank This always gets me. As a huge baseball fan and love for the history of the game, I understand the thought behind the "He is still the HR king because Bonds was allegedly using PEDs" talk (never admitted or got caught by the way), but when you look at the fact he was caught/ admitted to using amphetamines, it kind of diminishes that argument IMO. MLB turned a blind eye to steroid use in the 90s and 2000s, so the ones who used, were playing part of the game. Bonds saw McGwire and Sosa and was like, "the hell with that, watch what I can do on the stuff" (allegedly). I dont give the full blame to him. It was a baseball issue, much like the greenies they used in Aarons days. Not to mention all the others in HOF that "more than likely" used like Rickey Henderson and Mike Piazza. Barry Bonds is the HR king, like it or not. Tom Brady was also suspended for cheating. Its part of his legacy now. Does that mean all his records are bogus? Same with Belichick and Spygate. Different sport, but cheating is cheating. I know Im sure to get some heat on this stance but it is what I believe. That said, Hank Aaron was a hell of a baseball player and a great face of baseball for diversity.

I have no issue with your stance at all, it's not like I can argue logically against it.
