per Ian Rapaport
Need to offer Jones, # 11, and 2022 Round 1 as a starting point. Make them say no. Caserio could be a Jones fan and Jones can run some of the Lamar stuff their new coach was part of in Baltimore.
Long shot that they like Jones, but if the Giants don't make the call they are not running the organization properly. Need to be told no, not assume the answer is now or even worse think you should not be interested.

This mess in Houston was inevitable that Watson wants out. J.J. Watts is probably next. I would trade both and try and get as many 1st rd picks as possible. Watson goes for a minimum of 2 first rd picks. Maybe more ?
As far as Watts goes you could get a 1st rd pick or maybe 2 or 3 2nd rd picks. If not that amount of high picks a whole handful of picks even at his age and injury status.
The Giants are on the sidelines watching this circus take place. Watson is not going to make this team a winner by acquiring him. Plus with the top picks we would give up we would retard the growth of the team. Houston gave up the future top picks to appease Watson and they didn't win. A 1st for Tunsil their LT. That's why Miami has the 3rd pick in the draft it's from the Houston deal.
Now a team like Indy should come knocking on the door. If Ben would only retire Pittsburgh could make a phone call. Perhaps Bill in N.E. ? But we need to stay on course and fill the holes we already have with these top draft choices imho.

But we need to stay on course and fill the holes we already have with these top draft choices imho. Regarding Giants, you absolutely have to try to get Watson. He's 26 which means you are making yourself contenders for 10-15 years by obtaining him. His cap # does not shoot up until 2022 and 2023 when we have enormous capspace. You need a QB in this league. Jones has not shown enough to not try and get this done. Odds are we can't get it done as other teams have better ammo, but still need to try. We traded 2 1s for a rookie Eli and it did not retard the development of the team. Watson scored 110 more points than the Giants did with pedestrian weapons. So simply by having him our other offensive guys are going to be vastly better.
On Watt he's likely going to be granted his release while they rebuild. He can go to Pitt and play with his bro or to GB where he went to college and try winning a SB before retiring.

Perhaps your right. I was thinking more of a team he could help push over the top for a SB contender. But if I'm say Cleveland he could be a big plus on a team that needs to improve it's defense. Maybe a combo of a 2nd and a lower pick. And Watts wouldn't be the main threat there with Garrett getting the attention. Even K.C. might make a phone call ?

You gave a very good argument. I'm pondering it now as we speak. Perhaps I will rethink my position.

Nice timing, can make throws without a steady base, nice touch on the deep throws and he's mobile enough.
My only concern would be with a 26 year old QB thinking he should have any say on who his hired as his coach/GM. But I'm not privvy to how bad it had gotten with the Texans, and I'm sure everyone already knows whether he is a good personality for your locker room or not. I'm sure he'd look good in blue.

Just my guess, but I'm thinking that it was not that he didn't have any say, but more the whole approach to how it was done. Yo couple that with the damage that O'Brien did to the relationship before getting fired, and you get to where they are at. I think if he gets traded, he will absolutely play the good soldier.

Regardless of how talented (I don't think I saw 1 response on this board that didn't believe that Watson is good), would a trade be worth it? 2 First rounders, 2 second rounders and 2 starting young defensive players along with his massive contract? So for the next 2 drafts your first pick is your 3rd rounder and you have given up 2 good young defensive players with less money to move in free agency? Haha, this is a make or break move for someones career to say the least. A GM makes a move like this and fails, he won't get any other chances again...

does Houston want the trade? Will they even pick up the phone on their end?

IMO New England would be a prime place for Watson to go, I just don't know if they will pay such a high price for a QB...
