I just want consistency and I would rather they over spend on top FAs that were great for more then just the previous contract year. As for 2022 if that LBer White from the Bucs is available then I'm all for sending him a blank check.. White will be on the 3rd year of his rookie deal (taken 1 spot ahead of us in 2019 David is available though I had heard the Bucs only have 30 players signed for next season. David is a quality player but the Bucs are nuts if they don't try to keep LB White beyond his rookie deal.

I dont care about the cap. What I do care about is that this team gets two more top play makers on the offense and at least one really good edge on the D.
After that build of the depth at corner and OL.

Both Barret and David are free agents If I'm Tampa I let Godwin walk and dip into the very deep WR pool in the draft again, especially with QB/OC/coach Brady still there and enough weapons still to insulate a noob to slowly get up to speed (remember they also drafted Tyler Johnson and found Scotty Miller last year).

If NYG signs LW I really think they need to sign DT too. He is flat out steady on the inside and an emerging leader on the defense. There was clearly a chemistry with LW, DT, and Lawrence. I think a pass rusher over one of these two is the way to go since the draft is weak in that area.. .

If you were williams, would you want $xxx frontloaded or the same amount backloaded? Probably have to use a bit more prorated signing bonus than we want However even with extending contracts, cuts cancel them out and we have over 100 million in 2022 Let's say 25 million signing bonus and a 5 million base salary this year Give him a higher 2022 number lime 23 million guaranteed in 2022 That is 53 million in 2 years.....could end up being more than half his contract paid in 2 years.... This way you have less base in 2023 and 2024 (if it's a 4 year deal )and plenty of room starting in 2023 if they have to eat dead money early 80% of the league is going to have to deal with this reality of backloadibg contracts, but unlike most we have insane space to buffer potential issues starting next year.. He'll Dallas and Philly, how do they eat all that dead money..Philly has dead end players with a lot of dead money hits impending so tbey can't even extend Dallas probably has to convert a lot of base into bonus and kill most of their space tbe next 3 years to even get under...and then more work to do if they want to bring back Dak Teams not on rookie qb deals all have to push out money for years.. We are in a really good spot TBH... It's all doable, but there is a price for everything...like you said, maybe a bigger signing bonus...maybe more guaranteed. It's a trade off...but with Williams in particular, it's probably a trade off we need to make to keep him.

They will make full effort in resigning one of their own, we on the other hand like to trade ours for a bag of peanuts and claim we came out winners in the deal. And speaking of the salary cap. All this talk about our cap space over the past two years and we can’t capitalize on it. That takes a special kind of stupid to accomplish that. Also, what seems to be ignored when discussing our cap is we have a quarterback on a rookie deal. We better take advantage of that because at some point we are either paying Jones or letting him walk.

It depends on your current and future cap situation and the amount moves you need to make. Despite the opinions of many, in our case we don’t need to make that many “big” FA moves over the next couple years, so we’ve got the space to absorb those hits early. In short, we have just as much leverage to appease Williams as anyone. If you were williams, would you want $xxx frontloaded or the same amount backloaded? Upfront of course, but it's all about what's guaranteed.

I might have to disagree with you about Godwin. IMO, Tampa's window is Tom Brady, who has what? 1-3 years left? I know, the man can play forever but you have to bet on mother nature catching up to him within the next few years. We know that Godwin and Brady have very good chemistry as demonstrated by Godwin's ridiculous catch % 77.4%. I mean, what is the catch % of the average WR who is wide open in blown coverage? 88%, max. Ultimately, if I were running the Bucks, I would try to keep all of Tom's weapons (If they have the cap space).

Not worried about the Cap, teams always find a way around it. They will find a way to free up money to hopefully re-sign Williams and hopefully add a Edge Rusher or a Receiver
Unfortunately they will likely have to let Zeitler go. Keep him and take a $14.5 Million Cap hit or Cut him and save $12 Million It is a Easy choice to make honestly! You can find a good Right Guard either later in the draft or for much Cheaper through Free Agency or maybe they just continue to try and Develop Lemeiux and Hernandez as our Guards

IMO: Back loading contracts are a double edged sword . We always assumed the cap would increase. This year changed that paradigm. It dropped 15-20 million. It was estimated that each team's losses were between 70 and 100 million ( the gate ,parking fees and concessions). At 85 million in losses and a cap at 185. It will take almost 6 years of a flat cap to recoup. Next year if there are partial or no fans in the seats again . It will be worse. The days of counting eggs as chickens are over. I think this is an excellent post Tem, love your analysis. I just might steal your line of "counting eggs as chickens" can't wait to use it. Plagiarism is a form of imitation which is considered a compliment.

Plagiarism is a form of imitation which is considered a compliment. And the vast majority of coaches are dropping one liners on the players from coaches that came before them. If its good, its good! Plagiarize away!
