If it was up to me, Id re-sign them both, or at least re-sign Williams and tag Tomlinson until some more money frees up in 2022.
Things dont always go as planned, so we should be prepared for 1 or hopefully not both of them to not be back next season. Yes, Dex is a young beast who will be very good for years to come as a 3 or 4 tech but we would still have a hole on the DL. BJ Hill is also decent, but more so as a rotational pass rush 1st player coming off the bench.
So some ideas for replacing would be
DRAFT options for replacing LW; - Daviyon Nixon, Iowa, 6'3, 300lb
- Jay Tufele, USC, 6'3, 300lb
- Jaylen Twyman, Pittsburgh, 6'2, 290lb
Some DRAFT options for replacing DT; -Alim McNeil, NC State, 6'2, 320lb
-Khyiris Tonga, BYU, 6'4, 322lb
-Tedarrell Slaton, Florida, 6'5, 358lb

Really don't want to think about this possibility because Grampa Gettleman could use this as an excuse to again make WR an afterthought..

The longer this is going on, the longer I think that old man gettleman will let LW walk and I hate the feeling. Honestly, I think the best option would be re-signing LW long term and franchising DT until 2022 when more money is freed up. But Id at least want to know a handful of prospects and/or free agent options as replacements for our guys Knowing Gettleman and our teams track record, we are going to let both of them walk just like what we did with Robbins, Joseph, Hankins, Cofield, and Snacks.... Smdh

Well with todays news it sounds like we are running with LW and probably letting DT walk.
Looks like we are going to be looking to target a NT in the upcoming draft

DT's do seem however to go all over the top 3-4 rounds...and the positional value is not extreme...still believe finding an edge is far more important, but that should happen hopefully in free agency. Haason Reddick? 26 years old...I'd for certain go after this kid ...especially vs Tomlinson

Lets hope history doesnt repeat itself

Id be totally fine either keeping Tomlinson or letting him walk and using that money to go after someone else of a similar caliber but at a different position. Im REALLY liking Alim McNeil from NC State as a mid round replacement for DT, hell I watch his film and think, WOW this guy looks and plays just like DT

I hate it losing DT. But this has been our mode of operandi under now 2 GM's. And we do seem to replace them with talented players each and every time. I did want to keep this DL intact. I thought it was as good a D Line as anybody has.
We seem to spend 2nd rd picks on this position every 4 years. Keeping DT would have allowed us to address other weak positions in the draft. Now we need one of our picks to fill a position we had an all star player at.
Not Gettlemens fault just the cap being 15 million less than last year.
