www.nfl.com/news/2021-nfl-draft-ot-rashawn-slater-cb-greg-newsome-ii-show-out-at-northwestern-proChecking in at 6-foot-4 and 304 pounds, Rashawn Slater displayed the kind of well-rounded skill set that explains why scouts believe he could play any position on the offensive line. In addition to tossing up a robust 33 bench reps, he clocked impressive times of 4.88 seconds in the 40-yard dash and 7.48 in the three-cone drill. Slater's arm length, which has been a hot topic of conversation among evaluators, came in at 33 inches. That's below-average for NFL offensive tackles, which will lead to more talk about Slater potentially moving inside.
All in all, though, the Northwestern product did a fine job showcasing his athletic ability and strength, underscoring widespread sentiment that he'll be one of the first offensive linemen to come off the board in April. Cornerback Greg Newsome Newsome turned heads by blazing a 4.38 40-yard dash at 6-foot, 192 pounds. The first-team All-Big Ten corner also sprung 40 inches on the vertical leap. Boasting an enticing blend of size and athleticism, Newsome's stock continues to rise throughout the pre-draft process, with first-round chatter cropping up of late. "He's probably going to end up going in the 20s when it's all said and done," NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah said Tuesday. "He's a really good football player."

The arm length will be an issue. If you notice the oline we drafted so far and who DG drafted in the past all had length. I think Peart was in the top five in terms of arm length.

Slater has Brandon Scherff 2.0 written all over him If the playmakers are gone (I think Bateman has an outside chance of being a possibility though)Take Slater, don't mess around and insert at guard

I believe he can play tackle in the NFL with those amazingly quick feet, but he could be an easy pro bowl guard with his pass protection mirror ability and capabilities to both gap block.... and be a big monster zone blocker at guard....and damn, pulling?
God bless any linebacker who has this heat seeking missile locked onto him.
He's a top 10 pick IMHO...those feet, just wow.

Zach Martin can play tackle in tbe NFL..he did a decent job this year when he had to. It's Kirwan 101 Draft the guy, find out where he plays tbe best..get your 5 best linemen on the field in this manner Of course you need 5 O lineman that aren't divas about not wanting to play somewhere Else (pointing at you Orlando Brown) I've been predicting for a fee years if you are an above average O lineman no matter what spot you play you will get paid a premium salary... With Slater we wod have that luxury of having a good swing tackle as a high end starter inside..makes it easier to build depth so we wouldn't have the death sentence KC had when Fisher went out in the Championship game for the super bowl.. There is a part of me thinking..especially if we let Zeitler go ,that Slater is tbe pick even if Waddle or someone falls to us at 11 because of what happened in the Super Bowl (would be slightly squeamish knowing we would have a rookie..albeit a high end one..next to a young RT on tbe right side, but remember Martin played next to a 2nd year C and a jag in Dallas his first year and that line blew up instantly)

Is Slater big enough at 304 to play OL in the NFL ? Serious he might be heavy enough at OT to fight off a 270 lb DE or a 245 lb edge rusher. But at Guard fighting off DT's or NT's ? So light for a Guard or short arms for a OT. Maybe we look at some of the other OL.

Some scouts feel that Slater may have peak physically. Darrisaw has a NFL ready body with room to grow. Plus, he can play OT / G. I would not be surprised , if he is rated higher on the Giants board

Sure, just one media scout, but he is quite good watching game tape. IMHO, feet too good, hands too good, to ever think he a guard. From the same article Oddly, watching Vera-Tucker I see some flaws in his pass pro...this guy is comparing him to possibly a top 3 pass pro guard in Thuney.

Not sure why I get this vibe either here on this board or talking heads on TV through these people mock drafts. Not sure Slater fits in that mold. I'm sure he's a great player but probably much more athletic. In early mocks I saw Darrisaw was ranked 3rd and Mayfield 4th. I see both these players jumping up, their names being associated with the Giants moving back in mock trades.
