It's okay to dream... do not listen to the "Cap Strapped Crowd". 50% complete I doubt we'll go WR in RD 1 now. But I can see us drafting at least one this year.

Sounds nice. But is it realistic? Hell no.. Once we tagged Williams all the dreams of signing a top wide receiver were dashed. The op has the right idea. Fix a glaring weakness on the team with talented players. Now, Daniel Jones has his receivers, and we can finally field an NFL passing attack. Oops No oops. Read my post, “Once we tagged Williams.” If Williams accepted the tag we would not of signed Golladay. Since Williams took the 3 year deal, his cap hit was $11 million instead of $19.5. Getting Williams signed to a long term contract freed up salary for us to sign Golladay and others. Our offseason was hanging on what we were doing with Williams. I can understand you missing that, it was only in the first sentence of my post.

I got no skin in this fight as I didnt think the Giants were gonna sign anyone big this year. I for sure didnt think they'd buy a #1 WR.

You see how I also said “once we tagged.”? Now stay with me, with Williams $19.4 tag, we were unable to sign another of the big free agents. You trying to say that’s false? From my understanding, we could not have any of the big splash moves with Williams on a fully guaranteed $19.4 salary. We signed him to an extension, and shaved off roughly $8 million this season. This isn’t rocket science, it’s all out there. The extension of Williams opened up the doors, then we released Zeitler. Williams was the first domino that had to fall, hence why we didn’t do squat till the deal was done. For someone who doesn’t have a dog in the fight you have a funny way of showing it.

Like I said, what you typed and what you meant to type arent the same.

Only thing that changed was I added “if” to the next post. Didn’t think I had to explain that, but here I am explaining it and being told to relax. Anymore relaxed and I would be declared dead.. You owe me my 5 minutes back from this back and forth. With interest..

Just read the thread...what you said in the thread doesnt match up with what youre saying now. I get it, a few week ago you thought it was unrealistic for anyone to think that LW would sign long term, thus opening up cap room. IMO, a bit premature considering that was over a week before FA period opened. But hey, you do you bro. You were right all along.

I never doubted they could extend Williams, wasn’t sure how they could of done it without moving players or restructuring. I don’t think the Giants ever intended on keeping him on the franchise tag. Unless of course, Williams demands went overboard. Golladay and Jackson were surprising. I didn’t think it was feasible to not only sign one top free agent, but two. Credit to the Giants for making it work.
