Get it done...kick the can for this Tiger, I beg of you Gettleman...he is only 26, many pro bowls...dual scheme...athletic, great punch.
This guy can play.
We can then go WR shopping....all draft long.

When there is a ton of them on the cheap in the draft...

He's a plug in at right guard and we should get 4-5 more effective years out of his play. We can still grab Slater for RT and left guard if need be after Will is gone...Slater can stop any pass rusher with those feet, Chase Young can attest to that. Gonna be a WR or 2 left in the draft that can X if we do Slater...could even get the Tomlinson replacement. Turner and Slater added this year with a Solder swinging might give me back that Jones hope I was beginning to have as the season went on on last....Barkley is in need of zone blockers, and Turner/Slater can both do that. Hell, even Solder can run block .... Turner/Slater makes this OL one of the best engines in the league.

Right now I'm scared of 100 million for a pass catcher....the absolute worst thing they can do other than completely ignore the position again .. Turner solves RG long term...gives a vet presence between Gates and Peart.. I'm starting to get the feeling Slater doesn't get past Dallas if not taken earlier...so Turner is the way to fortify the line without hopes and prayers Slater falls

I hope Dallas goes Pitts...as inconvenient as it will to try to defend a virtual all fantasy team of playmakers,a rapidly wrinkling line and 80% of their defense trash it will guarantee that team being irrelevant for another 5 years

Trai Turner was drafted by Gettleman, so you never know.
Gettleman also signed Norwell as an UFA and was "locked in" to sign with NYG in 2018 and we all know how that went.

the biggest question; With what money? Why did the Panthers let him walk with over 30 million in space? I am leery of O-line FAs . The last good one we got was. Kareem McKenzie

As for releasing him, they freed up $11.5 million. Being that he missed six games last year, the Chargers must of felt he was not worth keeping. Not only the question with how are we paying him, why would he come here? He’s a free agent, meaning he can pick numerous teams to sign with. We can’t compete with teams that have money. What fans want. Sign Golladay Sign Turner Resign Williams Resign Tomlinson or tag You’re a numbers guy. Crunch these numbers.. It can’t be done.

Its just a matter of if it is worth doing. According to spotrac Giants currently have 3.1mill in cap space. Solder reneg will probably net us atleast 4 million. So now we're at 7.1 mill LW is currently a 19.5mill cap hit. If we give him a 7 yr deal 100mill 50 gtd with the last 2 years voidable, we could make his cap hit as low as 7.25mm, but we'll say we get it down to 11mill for this year. 19.5 minus 11 adds 8.5 mill to the pool So now we're at 15.6mill Bradberry is currently a 17.25mm cap hit, 13 of which is due to his base salary. We can extend him 3 years and convert all of his base salary to signing bonus, which would give him more guaranteed money and spread that 13mill out over 5 years, giving us a savings of 10.2mm this year in cap So now we're at 25.7mm in cap space. Kenny Golliday signs on for 5 yrs 100mm 50 guaranteed. All 50 of that is signing bonus. Cap hit in 2021 will be as low as 10mill, but we'll say there's also a base salary of 3 mill for a total cap hit of 13mill Now we're at 12.7 mill in cap space. Dalvin Tomlinson signs 5 yr 40million with 20 guaranteed. Last year is voidable. That puts his cap hit as low as 4 million for 2021. Now we're at 8.7 mill If we sign trai to the exact same deal as the Chargers gave him last season, his cap his would be 8.7mill in 2021. Now we're at $0. Send John Mara my resume.

You convert Blake Martinez's 2021 base salary to signing bonus or add a year to one of the other guys contracts with more guaranteed. I got it to 0 to illustrate it was possible, dont ruin it for me!

You don't have to extend contracts to convert base salary to bonus salary. What you are doing is BACKLOADING their bonus money (cap hit), which makes it harder to move them at the end of their contracts.

Both one year longer and converting some base into bonus .Right now their yearly bonus cap hit is small. 2mm for Martinez and Bradberry's is 3mm.In that extra year. JB would be 30 years old .BM would be 29 . We could convert 7 of BM base into bonus for both only add 1.5 their bonus cap hit each year. It frees up 11 this year. I am for extending them both .We get them still in their prime.

Correct, you don't have to extend them, but you get more relief this year if you do. Using Bradberry as an example, if we don't extend him and convert to bonus its 13mill divided by 2, so only 6.5 in savings. The more years the more you divide it by. And yes, its exactly what I am doing (backloading). The first thing I said was along the lines of - its easy to do, its just a matter of if it is worth it to do it.

I wonder how pissed off the NFL would be if we gave everyone 100 year contracts, and just gave signing bonuses out like candy. Cap hit would be basically nothing and can sign whoever you want.

I guess it's just a matter of if a certain player is worth "kicking the can" as migrate suggests....IMHO, going into next season, I want the OL a team strength and not "serviceable" (bodies)...the draft is deep on WR and we need one/two.
Turner is a younger and as talented as KZ right guard...can do zone/gap,pass pro and pull...Daniel Jones is in his make or break season and IMHO, if we are going to kick any can, I want that area, protection and Barkley having zones for his east west style solidified.
I do not believe Solder is solidifying it.
