"Jadeveon Clowney drawing interest from the #Titans #Browns #Giants #Seahawks and #Falcons per report. #NFL #nflrumors" Dated March 20th Saw post on FB supposedly from "Giants rumors " w/ people discusing it But nothing on here the real source for giants info Doing a search most articles are from last offseason in 2020 when giants were on the top of clowneys list Theres one tweet i found made a few days ago but it was mostly about Adore Jackson Also found article dated January 6th, 2021 of a writers opinion of the best landing spots for Clowney and and giants were one of them Even if remotely true the guy played in only 8 games for tenn before ending his season with knee surgery Anyone here anything on this. And if so there could be no truth to it with all the signings theyve already made Again i saw this on FB private group "New York Giants Fans" page m.facebook.com/groups/875232825995500/?ref=m_notif¬if_t=group_highlightsAbout the 4th or 5th post down. Dude is a constant hurt...but with LW taking double teams, and a healthy Clowney taking double teams, and the ability to wreck any offense at any time...incentive 1 year deal could unleash the beast.
Don't expect too much from him, and one game when we are playing the Cowboys or Redskins...you will see a guy take over a game like Von Miller in the superbowl. Of course the following week he will have turf toe and be out 4 games, but when he is playing...defensive coordinators have to account for him every play.
Honestly, not going to fix the edge with the draft this year.....weak class.
Clowney could reap the benefits of a strong secondary and LW....I'm all for a 1 year show me deal
One player I would not kick the can on...

He is an over rated player.
He can't stay on the field When he is on the field A) It is seldom that sacks the QB. B) It is a rare event when he hits the QB C) He doesn't tackle anyone
If he had the stats to go with his legend. I would would want him
In 2019 he played 13 games 3 sacks, 31 tackles and 13 QB hits ( 605 snaps) (15 million)
2020 he played 8 games 0 sacks 19 tackles 6 Qb hits (426 snaps) (13 million)
We have guys on the site that are down on Carter
In 2019 games 15 games 4.5 sacks, 45 tackles and 13 QB hits (723 snaps) (665 thousand)
In 2020 5 games 1 sack 15 tackles 4 QB hits ( 851 thousand)
Who was a better bang for the buck?
What are we going to pay him? One year deals are expensive. For what? Him to be on the sideline for a quarter of the season +. We have 2 just like Clowney already in Carter and Ximines. The 2 of them combined are a 3rd of the price for one Clown Here is the difference; With Carter and X we do not know what their celling is yet. Clowney we do.

Not sure last year, but he was doubled more than any other player other than Donald while in Seattle....he's a one year contract with incentives only. He's also a three down player, and excels against the run...again, when he is not hurt from various core and muscular injuries. A healthy Clowney is a very good player...he did generate many pressures as well while double teamed. I can not argue the injuries, nor the lack of sacks...but double teams and pressures, and his ability to shut down an edge on a run...I can. I am not advocating a contract, but this team can use a double teamed edge who is good against the run, and can generate pressure...his injuries are silly at this point in in his career...so silly, even if we signed him up for an incentive induced contract and he excelled and actually played all 16 games...I'd still let him walk and let another team invest in his actual played all 16 games year

No way he plays more than half the time, and probably not a full season.

There has to be more there. I do not see that with him. As one deals are expensive.

Absolutely no interest in Clowney, he's rich and he's shot. That body is broken down. Only FAs remaining I'd have interest in are Trae Turner & Danny Shelton.
This team has had a stellar offseason, but we've lost our NT and our best G from a bad Oline. Draft and any remaining FA moves need to address those areas. The only non-Oline guy I'd consider at 11 is Kyle Pitts if he fell. Can then spin Engram off in a trade for a mid-round pick.

It is crazy how a lot of us, when we were on the other boards, were watching this guy come up through highschool and now here he is...hurt a lot.

I like this team using mostly young guys. Clowney's production can be matched easily.
The double teams is a valid argument but I think OCs wont see a need to double him much anymore.

Clooney is a reminder that there are no sure things coming out of college. I think he had zero sacks last year.
According to Lombardo there is no interest in him from the Giants.

He was the can’t miss player that now can’t stand playing.
All the talent in the world, and he has been an average player at best in the pros. He screams buyer beware. Even if he said he would play for free, I wouldn’t trust him.

Yes agree with everyone. I was just surprised giants were even mentioned and or linked. Maybe figure with Williams, Lawrence and the guy from the Vikings that Clowney would not have to much pressure on him and having those guys lining up next to him would make him better. Kinda like how Shepard and Slayton will benefit from Golladay Clowney is far removed from being a key guy in a defense and now not much more then a roll player But in right setting with right guys around him could maybe rejuvenate his career Heres updated list of whos still available on FA market: theathletic.com/2442824/2021/03/23/nfl-free-agency-updated-big-board-t-y-hilton-richard-sherman-and-the-top-unsigned-players/?amp

At this point I’d be shocked if our first pick isn’t an edge rusher. Clowney is a walking infirmary, I can’t see it.

At this point I’d be shocked if our first pick isn’t an edge rusher. Clowney is a walking infirmary, I can’t see it. This a very weak class for edge....good luck reaching for a pass rusher at 11 this year. Each one has holes, from size vs bend/burst/technigue, and many scream situational....not something you take at 11. With the covid college year, and many players sitting out...this pick would, IMHO, be a "need" pick vs talent/BPA....I'd be very wary of any edge I have watched at 11. It's also weak at DT. Where is the draft deep at? WR OL CB/Safety Gettleman has put us in a nice situation of not drafting very hungry...but OL should have a lot of fruit hanging low for our first 3 picks.

I would only bring in a player like Clowney if I thought we had a team with shot at going deep in the playoffs, other than that no dice...

Some kind of low cost 1 year deal, why the heck not. "He gets hurt", he damn sure does but if the cost is super cheap who cares. Not many dudes walking around with his potential. By not many, I mean zero this year.

At this point I’d be shocked if our first pick isn’t an edge rusher. Clowney is a walking infirmary, I can’t see it. There is no edge rusher worth the 11th pick. Paye is probably the best edge player and he is a stud against the run, not the pass. Rousseau has some glaring weakness' to his game. I like Ojulari the best as far as pure pass rush but he is super raw and I doubt he grades anywhere close to the other guys that could be on the board at 11.
Every year Gettleman clearly goes with the talent above all else. I just don't see any of these edge guys grading near Micah Parsons, or Devonta Smith or Patrick Surtain.

We've done more than our share in FA and based upon the injuries and that he bounced around to 3 different teams already, I do not think we are the fourth one.

By not many, I mean zero this year. He's a what could of been type player...I thought when he was drafted and they made him a 3-4 linebacker vs 4-3 DE with hand in the dirt...that hurt his development. He was never about coverage...he was about going forward and getting the QB or stuffing the run/edge....pressures and stopping any runner vs double teams was there when that hand was in the dirt. His latest injury and the previous 5000 of them...this covid might have made him a situational player at best, and who even knows if a team gives him a 1 year deal. Incentive laden...1 year low cost...risk reward might be there. The "only" positive he has going for him is the fact this edge class is so weak. His injuries are the reason teams have stopped any long term contracts....not so much his actual play when healthy.
