I'm not particularly worried about Smith's size, any more than any other WR. This week, I prefer him over Waddle. He was so dynamic last year after Waddle went down. I think he'd be a great addition to our offense lining up opposite to Golloway. Mind you, if we take Waddle over Smith, should both be on the boards, I won't complain at all. I think he's going to be very good as well.

Would Ross already be a Smith type player ? so maybe Waddle ? I originally had Waddle as the 4th receiver of the top 4. I honestly have no idea at this point. I'd lean toward Waddle just for his ability with yac yards on short catches in our offense. Goladay, Slayton, and Ross are all deep threats. don't know if Waddle is as good a route runner as Smith. But like you say that's just todays thoughts.

Smith looks a lot better to me as an all around receiver. He's 6'1 with long arms, has a huge catch radius that Waddle doesn't have.
Durability concerns...yet not much injury history in college even though he faced future NFL CBs... go figure.
Smith just looks much better to me...the overall production reflects that.

big guys in the NFL get hurt every week.
Smith's size will have zero bearing on his future success or failure in the NFL

The word I have used on BBV in this debate Fungible I'm at the point either of these guys are fine even if we have a choice, even though they are slightly different in skillset, both do the same thing,an explosive dynamic playmaker that can be moved all around the formation and do a lot of things in space and have blow tbe top off a defense capability
Smith is a blend od Issac Bruce and Odell.. Waddle is Tyreek Hill 2.0 Either of these guys make it easier to move on from Shepard in 2022 and let Slayton walk after 2023(provided we keep adding players at our leisure mid rounds to develop as depth

Thought that this was an interesting point: In addition to my skepticism on speed reliant WR's, the fact Waddle had an injury to his ankle/foot makes me all the more skeptical. I was critical of Smith's size, and think it can ultimately become a factor, but as a great philosopher once said, "the juice is worth the squeeze." I think he's the best WR in this class and I don't know if it's close. He does so many things so well. If we stay at #11, Smith is my hope at this point.

He can line up inside and inside and adds value on special teams as a dynamic punt/kick returner.

Last year when it was possible Smith would enter the draft I thought he was as good or possibly better than Jeudy and Ruggs. All season long this year I thought Smith was the best WR in college. Entering the draft I have him ranked #1 WR. I'm all in on him.
With that said I would take either one in a heartbeat. Waddle is so good. It's not just speed either, it's HOW he uses his speed. Watch some breakdowns on his route running. He uses different gears to fool defenders. He also runs outstanding routes. His cuts are fantastic. His hands are great. He has toughness. He has value as a return man. Honestly there is nothing to not like about Waddle other than the fact he is 5'10".
About the thread though. I don't find it odd. The concern with Smith is he is too skinny to hold up in the NFL. It's nit picking for sure but it's about him holding up to the rigors of the NFL, which is tougher than college. What happened to Waddle was a freak incident which could present it's own concern.

I find myself reevaluating life by agreeing with you, but we give you enough crap, so I'll put it out there I agree that Tyreek is in a different class. I won't say all time, but if yall look at those advanced statistics, he creates the most separation, gets open sooner in a route than pretty much everyone, stays open, and does it more often. And then there's just the eye test, dude catches a 5 yard out and 2 guys have the angle on him but he just outruns the angle like those dudes were walking.
