And just like that, all the Giants players signed in 2021 were steals.

So it makes things a bit easier to extend some players it looks like next year Thread title a bit misleading, though, the cap will raise at most 30mill not at least.

And just like that, all the Giants players signed in 2021 were steals. Exactly. Also, 2023 will be $225M, and 2024 will be $256M. There is a mountain of cash coming the players way...

So you are saying Gettleman was able to make a smart decision by looking at more than what was an inch in front of his face? Like he has some forethought, unlike the haters and talking heads? Odd.

I don't love DG but he has had his good moments, this is one of them. Im surprised a lot of teams weren't spending this offseason when the cap was 182M and now will be spending when the cap is 209M and have to spend more. Also, its going up and up so the Giants will be plenty to work with in 2023 and beyond....

The only difference now will be that the players the Giants signed this year will cost a lot more in 2022, 2023 and beyond. If you can lock talent in now, you lock it in. The players and their agents (if they have any type of intelligence), will look at the usual percentage of the cap that a position group commands and prorate that number up to the new cap that's almost $30M more. It's to bad the Giants don't know if Daniel Jones is their man or not. They could have extended him and back-loaded an extension. Players will take a bit less for guaranteed money now due to potential injuries in the sport. Also, to end on an upbeat note, your bolded comment doesn't apply to the Cowboys, check this out, only $5.4M in cap space in 2023 (not 2022, 2023 LMAO) overthecap.com/salary-cap/dallas-cowboys/

Are you to tell me, most of the league wasn’t aware of the salary cap being bumped up $30 million? Either the Giants are the smartest ones in the room, or they overplayed their hand. I’m going with the latter. Most of the league were dumping salaries, or staying put. While, we were wheeling and dealing like there is no tomorrow.

I'm trying to see where the logic was to hold off on signing players and can only come up with 1 reason. Perhaps the free agent class in 2022 is a lot better? what other reason could there be? Sign players when you have more cap space but they will cost more? This would be a stupid reason. The only thing I can say about the players the Giants signed is that they appear to have gotten a bargain now that the 2022 salary cap floor is finalized. The biggest factor with these signings will be if these players actually perform. The Giants appear to be sitting pretty now but lets revisit this topic during and after the season. Then we will really know if they made the right decisions.

The Giants are tight against the cap next year. They signed these players factoring in the rise in cap space. They will be tight next year...but things open up after that.

The 30 million next year helps us resign a few of our own (Peppers,Hernandez and I think Gates are up as well as Carter ) Figure 20 million in space in 2022 before deleting Soldier and Shepard... that gives us close to 40 ... Enough for Peppers and Gates if he continues to rise... Then we see what Hernandez does whether he deserves an extension as it's all in his hands.. Carter I can take or leave...

The Giants currently only have about $6 mil in cap space for next year. Signing draft picks will take a lot of that. There is no cap savings for Solder next year...they already took the savings this year. They don't have a lot of money in 2022.

What are you talking about This isn't taking into account the new cap number And Solder still os on the books for his big number next year as he only re did his contract for this year.. Shepard gives us 10 million next year of relief

Not sure why you think it'll be an issue next year. The Giants had a lot of room to move money around to create more room. They had contracts they could extend or cut. They did exactly what they should have done. They don't really have that next year. You can't keep extending and cutting a lot of contracts. They have most of their team back next year and draft picks. They shouldn't need a lot.

We have $6,037,199 in cap space nest year. We better be able to move money around.

Shepard and Solder can be deleted Also Unless something horrible happens we won't have to be buyers and we can just bring back our own which means we can dip into a very big 2023 year for year 2 big guaranteed years To me we probably have only 2 must bring back guys as of now Peppers and Gates.. Maybe Hernandez plays his way into an extension.. If Jones is legit we also have a ton of picks for more depth/talent..
