I really like him as our D captain. He's won 2 SB's in N.E., played in a Championship game in Tennessee. Just read an article about him on the Giant web site. Don't know how to paste it or transfer it over here.
Last year we signed him 10 days before the season started. No OTA's and no pre season. Yet he settles down a brand new secondary and helps solidify our defense. If McKinney doesn't get hurt who knows if we even sign him. He plays like the pro he is and earns the respect from vets and young players alike.
The only top starter we had on defense that was here even more than 2 years was Dalvin Tomlinson. Ryan played good enough to be voted as an NFC all star player last year.
This Logan Ryan goes above and beyond in this off season to lead and help this defense. He goes to dinner with his old teammate Adori Jackson and helps talk him into signing with us and solidifies our secondary. He then runs practices and workouts with the secondary on his own and they come and they workout.
Then according to this article he personally calls Antrel Rolle, Jason Sehorn, and Cory Webster and asks them if he can pick their brains to help his secondary become great Giant DB's like them. They all happily participate and help however they can.
I already love this guy and am happy he is the defensive captain. Am now rooting for this guy even harder. Were lucky to have him. JJ must have remembered him from N.E. imo.

It’s amazing that no team wanted to sign him last offseason. In part, they didn’t want to pay him the $10 million annual salary he wanted. Which if you look back, we got him at a bargain at $7.5 million. Great player, better person, fiery leader. He’s the player that everyone in the secondary looks up too.

It was the stars in perfect allingmemt for a player of his caliber to be available when we were in need. That is rare
If McKinney does not get IR-ed .There is a good chance he would not be a Giant

There is a lot of youth in that secondary signing him is really a gift to those young kids Ryan isn't the fastest or most athletic what he is is smart and a tireless worker in the film room and on the field. These kids can learn so much from a player like him the corners and Safeties this was truly a great signing. He is living proof to the pups that hard work will get you where you want to go.

I'm not sure guys. Plenty of people here said Dave Gettleman is a moron for signing a guy that the Titans didn't even want to resign and no other team signed only 10 days before the season. LMAO.

Reminded me of the Sam Madison signing, but without the ring so far. So far.

Then extending him a month after McKinney returned showed just how valuable Ryan is to the defense and the entire team. Now this secondary, after years of zero depth, has to be among the deepest in the league.

I don’t remember a single person saying that. There were definitely a few of us who thought he was a bad signing and so did most of the NFL. When it comes to his play especially as a corner he isn't good. His leadership was never a discussion point and to be honest I still don't think he's worth the contract.. I will be surprised if he's on the team for 3 more years to fulfill that contract..

As long as he keeps playing at this level he is such a positive to have. 3 years down the road half this team probably won't be here.

How you missed a few of us discussing it to be as bad idea is totally on you! lol

But wouldn't that be a fine problem to have that we we have too many good players to be on the field at one time ? But lets not get ahead of ourselves, I'm just excited about this secondary and the defense as a whole.

I agree about the secondary but the defense as a whole is still needing some pass rushers so unless any of the ones on the roster make a big improvement they will still struggle to get off the field against the good teams..

I was sort of lukewarm on the signing at the time, but I didn’t hate it. Turned out to be a solid addition

Yes hopefully Ojulari will add to LW as some sought of pressure I assume from the Will OLB spot. But at this point it's wishful thinking. Hopefully it turns into a reality. Someone on here suggested Peppers is going to be quite a weapon for us blitzing. We might see a 3-3-5 defense with Peppers being that 5th back/LBer. McKinney filling in at the other Safety. I think this would be very effective to use on passing downs. I don't know but I love new wrinkles thrown into defenses. Next year I'm hoping we get even stronger with the pass rush as one of those 1st rd picks is some type of pass rusher. But we have plenty of time to go there. I am really hoping Ojulari is the player I was touting in the draft. I'm thinking and hoping we got a steal in the 2nd rd. This could be gold for our defense.

We may have a special safety group this year.

Ryan is the type of player you need and want on your roster. Counter balances the dopes and players that feel entitled.
