And say they don't make the playoffs say cause of tie breakers now what ? I would assume 11 wins their in. But one year N.E. went 11-5 and missed the playoffs.
Yes the Giants would have progressed and even became a winning team and say Jones and the OL both showed improvement. Now what ? Now does Getty and his staff get another contract ? We don't want to make changes do we ? Are the playoffs a must or can we compete and miss would that be enough ?
Can it be a successful season with growth while not making the playoffs ?

Hey, let’s slow down with Gettleman getting an extension. I would like to enjoy my weekend.. All I need is the Boston Massacre getting a new contract, and seeing his face here for another few years.
Now, winning 9-10 games will be a vast improvement. Not enough to quench my winning thirst, but enough to keep me satisfied. This team for all intents and purposes should win 10 games minimum. The front office did their part, now it’s up to the coaches and players. This is the first time in years we’re going into a season with optimism. Had to pinch myself to see if I was dreaming.

If the Giants show noticeable improvement nobody is going anywhere.

IMO this is a 10/11 win team With the extra wild card something really bizarre would have to happen for them not to make it (like at least 2 teams that have worse records than them winning their divisions)
Every time a team that had a 500 record or worse won a division it cost a better team a playoff spot

I think Gettleman will stick around if we have a winning season, which, in a 17 game season, would be nine or more wins. Eight or less and that may be the end of the road for him. For me personally, it's tough to say. Nine wins in a 17 game season will not impress me as I think our division is weak and our roster is strong, albeit with some significantly problematic areas. That said, it'd be nice to have the feeling of victory that many times in a season again.

Its last year's 8 win season...Once you crest into double digit wins you've done well though, 10 - 7 sounds pretty nice considering where we've been recently!!

It depends how they look doing it. If they back into a bunch of wins against teams with a bunch of injuries that won't be good (a win is a win of course). At the same time, if they lose a couple of late second games, or the refs give away a few but they are competitive it'll be good.
Bottom line, our decisions should not be make based on whether or not the Eagles decide to play a back up QB the last game of the season. Lot's of stuff goes into make the playoffs.

Not to be that guy...but every year the giants don’t make the playoffs is a huge disappointment. Not that I’d rather get in and be one and done. Just knowing the team hasn’t been good enough to fit into the top half of the league for nearly a decade is absurd. I think I speak for all of us when I say - we’re due for a competitive team that is capable of making a real push come January 😊

We've purchased the best secondary in football. Our defense was very good last year and they should be as good or better with McKinney and Adore. We've added Golladay and Toney to a crappy WR corps. Our O line HAS to be better. Saquan is back. But ultimately Jones has to be better. If he's just a decent game manager we should win the division.

I love ya Mike but this is such a low standard. "Growth" can be had by not falling on your face. All those high picks and starting at such a low spot. The league sets every bad team up for "growth".
It's time to put away the "improvement" standard and apply the "win now" standard. Anything less is a quest for mediocrity. And we've managed that quite well so far.

100% agree. Just because we weren’t power houses last year, doesn’t mean we should be striving for mediocrity...the point of the game is to win and all it takes is talent (which we have plenty of now), execution, and ultimately luck. Nobody wins the SB without luck.

He's been with the Giants since 1999. He was an assistant GM for both Superbowl. He's a numbers guy, but clearly has plenty of experience. I don't know for sure he’s the heir apparent, it’s just been suggested a lot by the media.

10 wins minimum for me. 9 wins would barely be over .500 and considering that would be 4 full years under DG and the amount of high draft picks we’ve had along with the amount of money we have spent in FA I would consider anything less a borderline colossal failure. I’m so sick of hearing excuses, now or never.

I think we agree, I'm just answering the question by Rich. If we win 10-12 games but miss the playoffs because someone else in the division won more games, I would not say we didn't take big steps forward.

I see no reason why this team cannot come out and win the season opener that alone will be a huge confidence builder Key is this summer's training camp while the talent is there they need to be able to play together as a team by getting to know each other, communication, playbook and just working together on the field. If the coaches can get them prepared the Giants should have a solid season the first one in a long time DJ does not have to be great, he just needs to limit mistakes/turnovers and make the plays to his talented WRs supported by the Coaches play calling which all will give DJ what needs to have a solid season I believe we have a shot at the playoffs this season
