Slater isn't a Guard or a Right Tackle. And he wasn't there after we traded out. Everyone but one person on this forum loved the Toney pick when it was made. And the red flags were well known at the time. And that person was yours truly. Now, I was not saying anything about this crap, I was well unaware of his character or work ethic. I was simply describing him as an average WR who a team like ours does definitely not need on its roster. With some info relayed to me by my son who watches college…who people also ridiculed as well. Your son didn't like the pick...and that was football related. On the football field, you can't complain at all about Toney, and his spot chosen. If your son seen him rapping on a corner...that would have been more helpful.

This isn’t true at all. Anyone who didn’t know who Toney was probably shouldn’t be posting on draft related threads. Aside from usmcvet, this board was overwhelmingly united about their approval of the trade/Toney pick. Red flags and all. You are wrong... people/fans did not know about Toney. They loved the 1 pick...they simply trusted the scouts. Many fans don't have the red flags down to a truth ...we hear gossip. Some red flags are not whispered into the wind until draft day....it's been like this for years. How long are we going to argue this today? 200 posts? 500? 5 more threads? There is no argument because this is just not true. Anyone who never heard of Toney before we drafted him doesn't follow the draft. The majority of posters here aren't that ignorant. We knew about his injuries, the rap career wasn't a secret, his commitment to football. Anyone claiming ignorance on these things now, shame on them.

The only saving grace is we traded back and got the Bears 1st round pick, but man, this is getting brutal. All before he even takes a snap. Odell got destroyed and he was one of the best WRs this team has ever had, arguably the best talent wise. This kid better display those ankle breaking moves on Sundays. Supposedly they checked and vetted this kid. You think the Giants didn't know about his rap "career" ?

Along with him legally carrying an AR-15 in his backseat fully loaded, and another gun incident on campus pointing a fake AR at students. And I guess his "education". Let see where this goes. Hopefully it works out.

I expected that pick as well...but was a pleasant surprise to see a nice trade back and haul for next yearI'm so tired of waiting for next year!! This guy better be a difference maker as a player ON THE FIELD!! no body is waiting for next year. The draft picks added to next season have zero to do with waiting for anything I am fed up too. Want to see the playoffs this season!! This IS the year.

After the past few season of high draft pick busts, it is easy to be a little skittish/concerned with Toney right now
Now it all comes down to how he performs in training camp and the regular season
Based on the new culture of the Giants today and on the cusp of putting together a solid season with playoff potential
I think Judge would take action before this becomes a distraction to the team

I think it's great that he is interested in music. For all we know he's going to be a better player because of the interest in music. It gives him an outlet from the stress and pressures he'll likely face. Now, if his interest in music makes it so that he can't perform at football, then I expect he'll be let go and won't have much of a career in football. But if he can do both, then I think that is great. And, given that he's been good enough to get drafted into the NFL, which is no small accomplishment, whilst also having an interest and efforts in music, I see no reason why he can't do well in both moving forward. I wish him success with his music interests and his performance with us. Live your life Kadarius.

To understand it we would need scrabble players. Reading his tweet is as difficult as understanding hieroglyphics. It was so bad that I thought his pet dog got a hold of his phone. He not only butchered the English language, he lit it on fire. If he can’t handle criticism of his music, what chance does he have in the NFL? So far, this kid has more flags than a parade.

Meh, whatever. Language is fluid. A lot of folks don't want to accept that, but it's the reality. Give this a read if you're interested in the topic: www.amazon.com/Words-Move-English-Still-Literally/dp/1627794719. And his being sensitive to comments about his music, or his play for that matter, are far more likely a result of his age than his future success in the NFL. He's made it thus far, no reason he can't succeed here. We've likely seen players with more red flags and worse first weeks than this dude. Let's see what he does when the season starts.

I think attitude and personality are huge parts of the drafting process since it is a huge part of being able to predict future success.
Baker obviously did not have this. He had all the talent in the world, and nothing else. DG knew of his red flags prior too, and looked past them. Then it avalanched into the gun incident along with not giving a crap about his game play.
It is easy to see Toney falling in that category at this point with his history and now his "words". He appears to be thin skinned if fans are already under it. His own fans mind you. Imagine what the Philly and Dallas fans will do/say about him.
He better snap out of it, put away his twitter, or he will be another DeAndre Baker. All the talent in the world with a terrible personality for a professional NFL player.
If I knew everything about this kid I know right now, and was GM, I would have easily passed on his talent, and I was actually originally good with the pick. There were many other options without the flags available, and could have built up other weaknesses on this team.
Again, Im not writing him off yet, but this is a terrible projection he is giving out.

Not all...and those who did not are certainly not ignorant...haha, not really sure how you ascertained that from (percentage) fans not knowing who Toney was. I put up some video after he was selected, and some thanked me...and felt a little better as his skills are elite. I knew nothing of his rap career....maybe I, me... was ignorant on that, but watching all his games I never heard of that aspect being discussed. Did I follow college ball as I usually do last year? Nah...covid and all the players opting out, the conferences getting started at different times...but certainly thought he was a nice pick...until reading about the rap career he seems to be a lot more into than when I first heard. Go on...please tell me the exact same thing again...to infinity and beyond. emoji BTW....the entire jest of my first post was Slater...and if he was indeed the right pick and we will always be following his career vs Toney and next years 1 from Chicago. Slater not a right tackle?...that's what he played in college his first two years before going left...ooops. Was Mikey wrong? It's okay you are still not "ignorant"...just maybe forgot, missed an article...or....some of his career. Again, not trying to sound ignorant....but curious...Is being right on these boards that important?...you want me to say Mike was right and allow you some better sleep? Oh and many projected Slater as a guard..."Fast-rising offensive lineman who can be used at tackle or guard" On the Chargers he will probably play left tackle with Bulaga on the right...we'll see if those arms are long enough to stay outside at T, but a great pick for a rookie QB...too bad the Giants are relying on OL question marks for our QB....no?

Well, well, we’ll….already demonstrated non-team player tendencies once. Now it looks ME ME ME more than ever. Great job DG….your friggin gone! And take your future rap star with you! Anybody for sweet talking Belichick again? NE has a death grip on BB. Unless there is a change of ownership he is going to ride into the sunset at Foxborough..

Psych!!
Its like he gets the (scout) guys in the room and says; ""alright boys who do we have on slate that demonstrate the most anti-social and narcissistic traits out there".".misdemeanors, potential felons, gf/wife beaters, delusional music stars will all be considered.. So that would be a big NO to Waddle, Smith. Chase, Moore, Bateman" OL?...oh well don't need em"

The first pass this kid drops he's gonna get booed out of the stadium. no doubt....he has increased the power of the magnifying glass ten fold. Not only on him self but on the NYGs drafting process....Judge included. the NYGs need to tell this kid to STFU about anything not related to football and when you do make tweats or whatever dont sound like an idiot.
That may not be possible.
This signing is on Morehead.

I predict we will see stories in the media this year about KT getting advice from Odell on how to “handle” New York. Lol.
Honestly though NY media is going to blow this so far out of proportion and do everything they can to run the kid out of town. Judge needs to teach him to be a gray man and Toney needs to play well or just solid.
It’s a double edged sword. If he becomes amazing he will likely get the big head just like Odell and think he is above everything. If he sucks then he’ll get torn apart for everything he does. Needs to be a solid contributor and learn the ways of being a pro.
Part of what you are developing and training with a kid like this is his maturity.
Please someone make sure he understands he is in NY/NJ and not Florida.

I have no doubt he'll be great, but he's going to start at LT from his first day to his last day, but he never made much sense here. We have a LT and if we wanted a RT or G there were better value players later in my opinion. Our need was interior linemen and Guys like Banks or Watts are the ones to watch if we want to make comparisons down the line.

I'm believing we would of taken Vera-Tucker if he hung around...and taken Slater if no trade was available. There were very strong rumors of the Giants being interested in Landon Dickerson 2nd round, all pro potential and versatile if he stays healthy...another Giant interest taken by the Eagles....a possible reason we traded back again in the 2nd round. So yeah, I believe we would have taken Slater with no trade partner, then hoping Vera-Tucker slid...and finally were hoping for a Dickerson in round 2. We need more talent on the OL...

this is all in the KT twitter thread. This kid is making it harder on himself that it needs to be. He is setting him self up for fan/media blitz. Every wrong move he makes is now magnified and every right move he makes he (MAY BE) will be a "I told you so" type of player which is terrible. So far he has his head up his ass IMO. Loved the pick but so far dont like the player or better yet his approach. I have not much to go on and am making assumptions but hey....thats my privilege as a fan. Of course I hope I am 100% wrong. I couldn't give two shits about the world of rap but if you speak/tweet like an illiterate jerk off then that is what you are or perceived to be. There is good reason to be nervous at this moment I'm sure father Judge as Baldy would say thinks and thought he could handle this kid. I will hold off till training camp gets going to judge, But he is starting to sound like OBJ post catch for a kid who has done nothing he needs to get his head down and start grinding on his craft.

We as Giants fans have had some experience with Rapper football players Marvin Austin comes to mind so I get the nerves. Lets hope Pettit and Judge who loved their meeting with him are on the money, None of us sat in a room with the kid and no one should be judging what he does for a hobby or second career, I'm sure he has been blitzed on social media getting ripped he needs to learn about his new environment before he speaks.

We need more talent on the OL...Its a good thing they have two 1st rounders next year to draft a couple.. Hopefully both those picks are near the top!!

Judge has stated he wants the players to be who they are but he better reign this kid if it becomes necessary. Absolutely I think he is banking on the kid being here for camp with no major issues and fall in with the team, have this season to show him the ropes that this environment isn't Florida everything players / coaches says is like raw meet to the wolves so if he wants to talk he better grow some Gator skin.
