Yes Don Meredith... turn out the lights Dandy Don was fun to listen especially after a few. He really was and his comments he made to Howard Cosell were legendary!

76 wins 100 losses 2010 through 2020This is terrible! What are the answers? that's honestly not too bad of a record when you factor in 1 superbowl and multiple coaching changes

It was only worse from 1970 through 1980 34% win percentage ! I have the scars to prove it but 43% is not to far away from the 1970's. Ugly as a red headed step child!! I'm with ya'... I lived the years since 1958, and 70-80 were the pits, but so were the 60's after '63.... a sunlight didn't truly come until 1985. I am pretty sure we're back on track, and if this year isn't 1985, then it's 1984... and you know we had hope right around '84. It's coming... we'll see it again, I am sure. JJ will be with us many more years, and I'm comfortable that he'll be our Parcells. I still have faith and I do like Joe but we have to start seeing good football with wins. I started watching around 1965 and its not easy being a fan as you know.

We had a lot of coaching changes because we sucked. we started to suck after the ring.. which involves multiple coaching changes, a GM change and a lot of turnaround in the scouting department. Real life stuff.

Their playing .600 ball over their last 8. And we only improved on both sides of the ball The secondary in addition to more reinforcements with pass rushers I see this as a top 10 defense The playmakers on offense and hopefully the progression on the O line and Jones and tbis could be a top 15 ascending offense If this team doesn't win 10 or more games I'll be beyond disappointed Well, you’ve been right a lot on these boards and I think you’re right here too.

Yeah, and 2010/11 was the 19-13 hot streak. Beyond 2011 is miserable 29-51 over the past five years And that would take us right back to the winning % from the '70s-'80s. It feels every bit of that.

Yeah, and 2010/11 was the 19-13 hot streak. Beyond 2011 is miserable 29-51 over the past five years Those numbers speak volumes. We’re so bad, that mediocrity would be an improvement. That’s the problem, we could go 9-8 or 8-9 in the worst division in the league next season and Mara, along with some fans, would consider that a success. Then we could follow it up with a similar season and we’d hear more excuses, how we’re making progress, and how close we are to being a true contender. I’ve just had it with the excuses. I don’t care if Jones gets hurt (definitely don’t want that) or our O line gets decimated. If we don’t have a strong winning season this year it’s time to make some major changes. It seems like every year this team has a new excuse, as most teams do, but the good teams eventually overcome those excuses….we haven’t.

You don't play to have the most total wins over a meaningless time period. You play for Super Bowl victories. 18 teams had more wins that us over the last decade and didn't win a Super Bowl. I bet you every one of them would trade all those wins for the Lombardi. 6 other teams with more wins than us won the Super Bowl once, just like us. Only 1 team in that time frame has won the Super Bowl more than us. The Steelers won 116 times, but didn't get to hoist the Lombardi. How many wins would they trade for another trophy? Who gives a crap about total wins. We have the third most wins all time, that won't help us win this year.

We are never that super consistent, win all the time team. We went 6-9 in 1987 after winning the SB the year before. We went 8-8 and then 6-10 after winning in 1990.
We are the team that is mediocre but once a decade (every decade since the 1980s) we find greatest momentarily and smash the crap out of our opponents. The teens are over and the new decade is here so get ready because at some point in the next 10 years we will win the big one, the other 9 years are likely to be a mix of straight misery and brutal disappointment.

I’d like to think you’re right, and history says you are, but we all know that history isn’t a true indicator of the future. We could turn into the modern day Cowboys and go another 15-20 years without a divisional playoff win if we keep making the same mistakes.

We could turn into the modern day Cowboys and go another 15-20 years without a divisional playoff win if we keep making the same mistakes. Or we could be the next Patriots and win 75% of our games and a fist full of Super Bowls over the next 20 years. Odds are it'll be some place in the middle and only time will tell. I'm certainly not going to worry about the next 20 years and damn sure not the last 10 years. I just hope we are a good team this year. Week 1. One game at a time.

6-9 was a strike year with our strike team going 0-3. That season was a mess for the NFL.
We were a consistent winner from 84 to 90. Then came a bad coaching situation. Quite honestly, Bill sabotaged the team.
But we were 9-7, 10-6, 14-2, 6-6, 10-6, 12-4, 13-3. That's a heck of a run.

the 80’s were inconsistent? Really? B/c of a strike year?
