giantswire.usatoday.com/2021/07/31/new-york-giants-matt-peart-passes-physical-removed-from-pup-list/New York Giants second-year tackle Matt Peart passed his physical on Saturday and will return to practice. Peart, the Giants’ third-round pick in last year’s NFL Draft out of UConn, was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list at the outset of training camp this week with a back issue. Peart strained his back earlier in the year and recently re-aggravated it. Peart is off the PUP list as of today and is the favorite to become the team’s right tackle this season. The 6-foot-7, 318 pounder played 150 snaps over 14 games last season with one start.

Good news. No clue still what happened. A back strain suddenly like that could be anything. Peart is our least talked about OL and I think he can be one of our best. He was the best run blocker on the line last year.

Really hope he makes it happen this season. So many "ifs" on the offense. At every position or group its significant.

As you say though, lots of ifs at almost every spot.

Three returning rookies, 3rd year guy in Gates with his second season ever at C and the RG spot is a guess. Fortunately, I feel the preseason, the OL and DL get the most "real work" even in vanilla schemes.

Matt Peart is on the fast track to being the best RT in the league, with his size and this coaching staff I don’t think there’s a single defender that will get by him. Probably the steal of the draft!

Ditto your thoughts, hopefully he gets it together this year, I’d like to see him wearing the Giants uniform for a long time assuming he improves. It’s nice to see players who actually accept responsibility for their play, surprisingly more fans make excuses for some of these guy then they do for themselves.

And you're right, the ifs seem big here, but so is the talent/potential. I think the wildly revamped oline coaching shows that many people really think this group can be something and didn't need reinforcements. Here's to hoping.

Concerned about a lingering back issue for a massive man. Is this back issue lingering or was this the first time? Sure, back issues can linger but some can heal. If this is the first time, much less to be concerned about.

Probably the steal of the draft! I though Peart actually looked better than Thomas last season (Though he only had a couple hundred snaps). Really pulling for this guy. Also, Thomas looked like an eraser at the end of the season. I don't know what the hell Columbo was teaching Thomas but he shouldn't be an Oline coach ever again...

I have my answer and hopefully the staff gives Peart an effective training program that doesn't aggravate it again...

Give it up he's doomed after all he was selected by Getty and we all can see his picks never stay healthy enough..

Agreed....Hope he kicks some ass along with the other 4. In a Jones presser when asked about his performance expected of him this season and the start of Camp he says..." The coaches and organization expect a certain level of play from the us and that has to start today." A couple of talking heads were annoyed he didnt specifically say himself. Which is ridiculous because the question was asked directly to him so of course he is included in the answer. I guess some want to see him say..."Yeah I sucked and have to get better". Thats not how Jones operates with the press. The kid knows exactly what his issues are and knows its all on him this season or he is a career back up starting next year if he's lucky.

A lot of praise for a player who played a total of 150 snaps last year. Young lineman make mistakes, a lot of them. To think he can be the best right tackle in the sport is a fairytale. Hope he’s ready, week one is future hall of famer Von Miller. Second week, Montez Sweat, following week Dante Fowler Jr. And last, Cameron Jordan. Who likes to move from one side to the other.
I think Peart can be a player. However, he has to learn on the fly. Tough position when going up against great players.

So much potential on this offense, some many ifs. Should be a fun season.

Peart is practicing (actually got some work in on Saturday)
This seems like a pulled muscle and they took their time letting him get on 5he field
Disk issues are what are bad and chronic

Me too. But I'm always a little hesitant about a big contract for players that turn it up in a contact year.
