deGrom pitches a couple games, then has to sit out a few turns in the rotation with a sore arm. He's been out 3 weeks now Ross can play a game here and there.... sit out when he's sore and then grace us with his presence when he's OK. DeGrom is a stud with some full seasons to prove it while Ross is a dude with an injury waiting to happen.. No way they should be compared ever.. LOL Maybe Barkley is the Giants DeGrom if you need to make the connection..

And Degrom is also one of if not the best pitcher in MLB with a proven track record (2 Cy Youngs) etc. Ross has done what exactly? Just a bad analogy lol... perhaps... but, it was what came to mind when I read about Ross' recurring injury history... according to his past, he has always had occasional injuries. deGrom has had a year like that... in and out due to soreness in one or another part of his arm. deGrom might be one of the top 10 best pitchers, ever... not just now.

Why is this a shocker to anyone? The entire reason we got him was due to his extensive injury history. The Giants are starting to remind me of the Cowboys by getting “discounts” from players with injury history. It usually doesn’t work out well. I get what you're saying but their is a major difference between between taking a low risk flyer on a vet and spending high draft picks on risky players. Ross only has a guaranteed Salary of $1M. True, I just hope the Giants aren’t trending in that direction. Baker had character issues that a lot of people other than Gettleman seemed to know about, we had the Josh Brown debacle, Azeez has a bit of injury concern as did Golladay and Ross, and as of right now only one is on the field.

Ross has a hammy issue... nagging... just something to hold him back from show any of his talent.

I couldn't tell you if this injury issue has been with him his whole career or something just this year.. Football will be here soon..

Well, it is John Ross...we expected this when we signed him I frankly got a bit over optimistic when he signed the contract without injuring himself.

Baker should still be on the Giants and was exonerated. He was immature to go to that poker game but you can chalk that up to being young. I think he was literally playing xbox and then these acquaintances conspired against him (including his childhood friend). Didn't Pat Leonard put out stories that mentioned that Baker was about to be indited? What a complete POS and he basically slandered Baker's name and he probably didn't even issue an apology. The Giants do have players with injury concerns, Jones, Golloday, Rudolph, Barkley, Ross, Shepard and even Toney. Hopefully some of them can stay healthy at the same time. Hopefully they have enough of them on the field at the same time to win games...

You think maybe he purposely laid low and made a Covid excuse - as to not have media stories stir up too much, and put the final torpedo in his career?

You got me on that one. I think part of the reason would be that the Giants realized that JB456 on proboards uses his likeness in his avatar.....I'm confused by this comment of yours though. Haven't you been firmly in the Giants are good camp?

You think maybe he purposely laid low and made a Covid excuse - as to not have media stories stir up too much, and put the final torpedo in his career? I didn't get that vibe. He said as far as covid he just needed to do what he felt was best for himself and his family.
When asked about the gun thing he did say that he wished the media would have reached out for his side of the story.
He seems to really like Judge and the coaches. Most consider him a longshot to make the team, but there's a reason why the Giants took this this guy. It would be nice if we could see why on Sundays.

Unfortunately, he can't seem to shake that injury bug. Just hate to see it with the potential to contribute to the Giants this season
Rooting for Sills who was injured last season really would like to see him make the roster
Just goes to show how much you appreciate players that stay healthy over the course of their careers, not easy to last in the NFL

My guess is their decisions rests heavily on how you handle a situation.

DeAndre Baker. He had his charges dropped. Beal was guilty.

DeAndre Baker. He had his charges dropped. Beal was guilty. DeAndre Baker's charges were multiple counts of armed robbery that could have landed him in jail for 50 years. Baker's charges were being discussed across the league and multiple news outlets. You may be comparing Apples to Aircraft Carriers..... Also, the Giants stuck with Baker for a while in the hopes that the charges would be dropped. They didn't just release him right away so they stuck with him for a period of time. This actually shows great consistency since they didn't release him right away after he was charged with crimes that could have landed him behind bars for the rest of his life...

DeAndre Baker. He had his charges dropped. Beal was guilty. Well, being charged for weapons possession is a little different than being charged with pointing a weapon at someone and robbing them.

Beal probably he gets cut in the first wave next week and makes my question irrelevant... I get why they released Baker, but why are they keeping Beal? Although I wouldn't compare the crimes, his legal issues prompted him to opt out last year. He has almost no chance of making the roster. I just don't see why he's worth the trouble both on and off the field. Stop paying this guy.

I just don't see why he's worth the trouble both on and off the field. Stop paying this guy. I figured it would be Baker. Obviously both very different situations and crimes but I also think how they handled each situation was very different. I honestly was surprised they released Baker so quickly.
Either way I think the last part of your post played a role too. Beal is schedule to make just over $1m, Baker was on a $9m contract. There is not much risk with keeping Beal and his court situation is handled and known. Baker had an unknown future and was going to cost us a lot of money or at least tie up a lot of money until things were figured out. Baker could have gone to prison where we know that Beal is only getting probation. So the money factor and unknown results probably effected Baker.
I would counter your question with this. Why not keep him? Assuming he is not some personality issue that will disrupt the team there is zero harm in keeping him around. He will cost nothing and if he makes it will probably be extremely loyal to this staff for giving him the chance.

Makes sense. He's not the easiest guy to root for for sure.
I watched the video out of curiosity to see what he could possibly have to say and I found myself in his corner. That's probably the kiss of death.

www.cbssports.com/fantasy/football/news/giants-john-ross-injured-at-practice/Giants' John Ross: Injured at practice Ross grabbed at his upper leg during a seven-on-seven rep and was immediately tended to by the Giants' training staff. The speedster then spent the rest of practice off to the side, watching teammates. Ross has endured a number of injuries in his NFL career, including a foot issue that limited him to just three games in 2020. Less than a week remains before August 14's preseason contest against the Jets. Not good Not good at all. Ross injured……shocker……
