I believe S. Barkely will play in Week 3 Sun 9/26 @ home vs ATL. This is guess is based on the fact that the NYG have 2 games in the first week. Then after the Thursday night WAS game they have 9 days of practice. So he will have 30 more days of no contact practice before the ATL game. This scenario should have him in peak form and eager to get back to his previous excellence. GO GIANTS.

Thats a perfectly viable plan.
However.......Nothing wrong with getting him as soon as he is ready. If that is prior to Falcons game then so be it

It's a good guess. As good as his rehab is going, there is absolutely no reason for him to be dressed week 1.

If week 3 is good, why isn't week 4 or 5 better?
I think we should follow the medical staff on this one. It could be game 1 or 2 for all we know if they deem his knee and body ready.
There is also a middle ground where he 7-10 touches in a game, to ease his way back. Even then, he should only do it with a knee deemed 100% in terms of strength and rehab.

I personally think he will play some snaps in week 1. Everything I see and hear leads me to believe he is ready to get out there. Judge obviously wants to be cautious with him though and not just hammer the gas pedal right away. I do think there is some strategic value to putting him out there week 1. It gives the following opponents something else to think about and consider, which is something Belichick and Saban have always done as a coach.
It's like a trick play. If you spend 2% of your practice time running a trick play and do it in a game, then your next opponent spends 5% of their time preparing for it, that is a net win for your team. So putting Barkley out there for a limited snap count and then mixing in other RBs will give the following teams more things to prepare for.

Suiting him up in game 1 of the regular season would be negligence at this point... But the only way for him to take a hit is by suiting up and playing. Bart Scott talked a lot about this earlier this week. Basically said taking a hit from a teammate means nothing because it isn't close to the real thing. If he is healthy I see no reason to dress him and control how many touches he gets, see how he looks and recovers week by week. If healthy is the key though.

Same They seem to be comfortable with Booker and Clements... And Penny getting some work tells me they have some interesting ideas in store (2 back set Barkley motions out taking someone with him,jet motion the opposite way at the snap ,defense running all around while a quick hitting run into the A gap gets a very quick 8 to 10 yards... San Fran does this a lot as did Baltimore with Dobbins and Richard

How about we suit him in week 1 to put pressure on Denver's DC to prepare for him?
He doesn't need to get a bunch of touches to have impact.

A couple of low risk touches week 1.
More plays in the short week 2.
Then a decent load week 3 after 10 days off.

unless he is medically cleared to play If he’s practicing, he’s cleared medically. is being cleared medically for practice the same as ready to play in games?

Really depends on how you want to use that active roster spot.

This scenario should have him in peak form and eager to get back to his previous excellence. GO GIANTS. He would most split likely 50-50 snaps with Booker that 2nd game vs Wash. Then have the extra days to recover for ATL. That makes the most sense if he is ready to go week 1.

I think Denver is going to be tougher than people give them credit for, and Washington is going to be stout. If we could go 1-1 in those two games, and have Barkley back for week 3, that'd be just fine with me.

Saquon can positively impact an individual outcome of a given play as a decoy , maybe him suited up standing on the sidelines a a decoy the whole time can positively influence the outcome of the game itself... now if LT is not getting into any trouble, dust off his # 56 and give him a call so he can chat with SB on the sidelines..

I think he plays week 1. He's been participating in 11 on 11 drills, so he's making all of his cuts and there is still two weeks until the seasons starts.
It looks to me like he'll be ready week 1, even if they limit him to a max of 15 touches that week.

Never
They are going to put him in freezer wrap and save him for next year....he's far too valuable as a human to play a game in arguably the most important year as a Giants fan.
Of course I kid...when 100%....run him until his legs fall off, and then get a new running back.

I’d guess, full practice (no red jersey) leading up to DEN, scratched on game day. ~10 touches on the Thursday gam and full go for Week 3 (health permitting).

He got 10-12 touches with the red jersey on against NE. Won't play tonight at all. I guess over the next two weeks we will see how much his workload is increased.
