Will Hernandez had a elite 92.6 grade in 25 snaps he let up 0 pressure. one block of granite for now.

I was just thinking about Hernandez. Then I thought of the old adage for OLmen.
If you dont hear their name they are doing well. I didnt hear his name at all.

Recall an article a few weeks ago, I believe it was posted here that Hernandez had a solid training regimen this offseason I give him credit he came to camp in shape and looks to have improved his skill set being solid in his play so far this pre-season

The entire defense was good. There were several positives if you look at the overall picture. Unfortunately, Thomas is one huge negative that's hard to ignore.

Agreed and it is very frustrating, Soldier looked OK, but he can’t play RT and LT…and I don’t really think he can play LT anyways. All we can do is hope it was just a bad game

Jones clearly didn't hit his crossing RB on the quick route like he should have. The other one you see it every week the LT rides that defender back, the QB steps up and throws it. Jones could not step up because the LG was crushed back leaving no pocket. Thomas wasn't great but those two were not his fault. Thomas also is not the greatest pass protector and I said that shit coming out of college. He will need time to develop that part of his game, despite was some experts here tell you about his college pass pro.

Honestly, I saw him play better toward the end of the season as well and I was anticipating him to start off this season building upon last year. Now with a year of experience under his belt he should know what to expect and use this lack luster performance as a wake up call I believe they'll teach/fix his positioning issue before the first game and get him right

Lets see if Hernandez can pick up stunts in REAL games.. That to me is his greatest issue..

I definitely liked what I saw from the defense with 1 exception, the pass rush. Newton and Jones seemed to have to much time for my liking to get rid of the ball. In fact, the secondary played exceptionally well since the pass rush wasn't that good hitting home to much.

Should have said 25 passpro snaps and 15 run blocking snaps.

Other bright spots Brigbtwell looked like an NFL RB,especially in the passing game... Penny needs at least 5 touches a game (been saying this for a few years, can't be playing 10 on 11 when you have the FB in the game...he is much better than a traditional blocking hood ornament)
Kaden Smith needs to be our starter and main TE in an 11
Defense for the most part

It is great to hear some positives, starting with Hernandez. We need 4 more invisible OL now.

Contrary to popular belief I think the staff has at least based on playcalling and such morphed the offense into a diverse modern style hybrid offense that probably can play any style (providing our walking wounded Playmakers come back ) We ran a lot of our base offense out of shotgun, went uptempo after a nice chunk yard..another end around...some ghost motions.. Shepard running option routes from all over the field as was Board .. So you get a sense in a way foe what they want to do..its just getting the walking wounded back

They needed to work on all aspects of the offense..running game included. Booker honestly looked like the worst back out of all of them

They should’ve just ran the ball from the 1. Three straight times if they had to. It’s not just smart strategy, but also a good test for your OL. But Garrett has struggled making the right calls in the red zone. Shepard is a different receiver this year, he had better stay healthy.

They probably wanted to run that play in a game situation...honestly that play should have been Smith there..when was the last time you saw Engram box out defenders in that situation

Engram has never been a jump ball player who uses his size as an advantage. He is a strictly on the run type receiver. Throw a fade to the corner if you insist on throwing it in that situation.

Move Thomas off the left side....Put his ass at left guard with the other stiffs.

The entire defense was good. There were several positives if you look at the overall picture. Unfortunately, Thomas is one huge negative that's hard to ignore. I really feel like he played well in the other preseason games though. So I don't want to say I think his struggles are being over exaggerated but I do think his positives deserve to be noted and not forgotten. People were saying how improved he looks until last night. Some people just have bad days. Plus, he was playing next to Larsen on that opening drive. Changes the chemistry and comfortability
